The post-peak oil, post-housing bust economy is already driving most crazy, and we won't even get to the food riot stage for maybe two more years.

$1,000,000,000,000: the cost of capping greenhouse gas emissions
Enviromental Headlines; Climate ChangeThe cost of curbing the soaring emissions of harmful gases that are blamed for causing global warming has been estimated at $1 trillion by a major study of the cost of climate change. The volume of emissions of the gases that cause global warming will double by 2050 unless rich countries agree to take significant policy steps to cut energy use, it shows.

Can we now finally drop the debate on which is worse: climate change or the energy crisis? I mean obviously the 1T needed to curb emmissions is small change compared to the 17T needed to switch from oil to ?

Asking what the cost is, is the wrong question,
unless we include the cost of inaction...
the cost of inaction (putting aside whether
life as we know it would be impossible)
would run way, way over $1T given
so many large cities would be flooded, plus,
what's the cost of ocean acidification
messing up if not destroying the bottom
of the food chain, plus...other "little"things like that...that ;make $1T small change.
