How?? when the 'crunch' hits, they won't have the fuel to grow the extra crops they will need to grow to produce bio-diesel.
Because we are so overpopulated, all their efforts will go into trying to grow enough food for all those increasing, excessive mouths.

When the fuel supply becomes scarce, they will have to return to horse power to farm and you have to grow food to feed the horses as well, leaving less land to feed humans.

There is no way we can become energy independant as long as we are overpopulated.

Only when enough of us die off from starvation,war and disease, will the survivors be able to become self sustaining.
