The new recvery methods this guy supposes will end our oil shortages have all been around for a few years or decades now. I hope he is right, but I would not bet on it. As for Geologists crying "wolf" about oil shortages the explanation is really rather simple. Geology is a rather young science in it's modern form. Plate tectonics which is the underlying basis for how the earth works was not even proved until about 1970. To quote geologists opinions from the 1800's or early 1900's is like quoting Copernicus to prove a point on quantum physics. Not to say those early scientists were not brilliant, but we have made progress since then.
