Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

Fascism then. Fascism now?
Public Policy; Political and Legal NewsUIUCStudent01 writes:

When people think of fascism, they imagine Rows of goose-stepping storm troopers and puffy-chested dictators. What they don't see is the economic and political process that leads to the nightmare.

Observing political and economic discourse in North America since the 1970s leads to an inescapable conclusion: The vast bulk of legislative activity favours the interests of large commercial enterprises.

Fascist dictatorships were borne to power in each of these countries by big business, and they served the interests of big business with remarkable ferocity.

Agreed.  Mention fascism to most folks and they'll automatically think of Adolph Hitler or Buenito Mussolini, goose-steppin' stormtroopers, Panzers runnin' through Paris, stuff like that, and it's out of their consciousness after that.

Do a Google search of fascism, and you'll quickly find that it is a blending of state and corporate power.  If that blending isn't exactly what is going on, and has been going on, in the United States, then well, we're all blind, deaf, dumb, and deserve every dead body we get over becoming a fascist police state right under our noses.

seems compelling as a warning, but is not: to my knowledge at the time any government outside the Soviet Union served the interests of big business first and foremost.

The US from 1945-2000 was under what has been called "Friendly Fascism". It was run by business but with a semi free press, habeus corpus, no torture. Since the false flag terror attacks of 9/11 made permanent the 2000 coup de etat, a more conventional police state ruled by exceutive decree has emerged. There is nothing friendly about US fascism anymore.
