Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

I grow onions pretty easily, but haven't tried garlic. Don't you plant them in the fall up here in the north?

I planted mine (Massachusetts) last fall, just as though they were daffodils or other ...

I'm at a point where a key planning decision must be made, so this is the first place I think to come to.

I have three lots to choose from:
1) 60 acres, with a 10-ft-wide/2-ft-deep stream running ...

For me it's some combination of:

1. Peak Oil

2. Getting older

3. Normal cynicism as I see how today's corporate crises become tomorrow's "who cares", and how "comp time" "earned" by respondin ...

Meanwhile, I don't think I'm seeing any shortage of native bee and wasp species in my gardens this year. I'm seeing a fair number of bumblebees, and lots of solitary bees and wasps. I'm getting pr ...

Is there any data suggesting pollinators are being affected more strongly in some regions of the nation than others? And, is CCD a global phenomenon, or primarily an American one?

Here in central ...

I think your question supposes that most of them are aware of Peak Oil (probably true as of this year) and believe it is real.

Even if they believe it is real, their responses to that are as varied ...

I think this is a pawpaw.

Yup, that's pawpaw.

If they are pawpaws, what time of year do they ripen in Z6?

Sorry, can't help you there. I think early fall, but am not sure? I think if they'r ...

No flavor to speak of, and the less ripe ones are of course, sour as can be. Any ideas? Jam? Pies? Inedible?

We had wild gooseberry on the family farm. Agree with you on the blandness of them ...

That's a big 10-4, good buddy. I hate E. umbellata. The Massachusetts D.O.T. saw fit to plant the stuff in the spac ...

I'll admit I don't know how much land is really necessary to support each person using modern organic and petroleom free methods, but I'd rather have some extra land than not enough.
