That's right. My 4 cylinder 1.9 CDTI offers 150bhp and 230 pounds foot of torque (315Nm).
Peak torque arrives at 1800rpm (approx) and lasts until 3000rpm and then tails off.

GM Already offer a diesel hatchback to rival the Golf TDi - it's called the Astra, and there is also the Vectra diesels to stand up against the Passat TDi.
