I think this is the beginnings of an economy based on perpetual growth and fossil fuel energy running headlong into geological energy constraints. A 75 grain 223 (especially with a WC or W core) travelling at 1700 to 1800 fps *should* be able to defeat level IIIA to III armor (I've seen it done), especially if the core diameter is kept as small ...
