Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

To ask 'What would you miss' implies that we all have a good idea how society will unfold in the next 50+ years.

There are plenty of things that I would like to see the back of, many of them alread ...

Yes Please - I'll get back to the papers.

I need time to do the analysis.

There is some degree of truth to the "peak lithium" theory, but only barely. There is enough lithium to go around. The o ...

Before anythingelse please read the peak lithium folder.

Then you will understand why electric cars are a no go.

Yet another argument in favor of conductive transfer via electric-roads? How man ...

Come back in 100 years and most cars will draw power from electrified conduits fitted into slots within the road. Cars working on this principle will be very light (and superfast) since they will r ...

The weakness of this system, as for all electric car concepts, is the batteries. The fact that these people are even trying to use batteries shows poor clarity of thinking. They should probably go b ...

That's a lot of caveats. Caternary wires make a lot more sense for urban environments, third rails would be just as much a hassle to install and a lot more dangerous/inefficient. There's a reason ci ...

Thinking out loud:
Would those electrified roads have copper in them?

Third rails are either soft iron or aluminum with a steel top to minimize wear. So material supply isn't really a problem. I ...

I am a Briton of English and Welsh ancestry and I personally plan to stay put, come what may. This is partly influenced by the fact that I am politically nationalist and I don't believe in dumping my ...

It is obvious that as China's economy expands its military expenditure will also expand. It is equally obvious that increasing military power and ability to project that power, will bring China into ...
