Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

Roubini says there is "no doubt" that the FDIC's reserve will be "drained 100-percent" and stresses that there is "nothing that can be done" to prevent this financial crisis and recession.

Give it time. The unemployment rate isn't nearly high enough to spark big changes. People will lose faith in this lesser-socialist market when the market drives them out of work. When unemployment ...

My parents have a couple types of Asian pear trees. I don't mean to be silly, but I guess you harvest them when they taste good! They'll all ripen within a couple weeks of each other. However, they ...

Another seed of truth that is distorted in these types of urban legends is that, yes, there is a lot of oil that companies are "sitting on": it's the oil left in a field that can't be extracted, whic ...

Either we're all brilliant here, or this just goes to show how big and dumb GM really is.

I'm not sure. I'm confused since my free market capitalist friends tell me that only the smartest and hard ...

Blood is thicker than water. I'd stay with my family and try to weather the storm there rather than buy into an ecovillage. Living might be friendly there at first, but will those flimsy bonds shatt ...

The sooner we start drilling everywhere, the sooner the public will figure out that it won't solve anything, and then we can move past this issue, perhaps on to the next useless solution. Let the loo ...

Can jet fuel be used in other applications besides jets? Can it be more or less refined in order to produce more of a different type of fuel? Are its properties close enough to another type of petro ...

Once I did an experiment. I peed on knotweed (Polygonum) growing i ...
