Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

You mean poor old Bill Gates might lose some money?

I'm guessing that even if he only got back .50 for every dollar he'd still be filthy rich.

For the record, I'd like to point out the misuse of the word "leader" here. Smile The people we're talking about are either far behind the curve, or using their knowledge and positional power to profite ...

I'm just wondering if they're already in the bargaining stage of grief, because it seems like they're trying ...

It is inevitable, but I'd like to put it off as long as possible. Other than that, I'm surprisingly ambivalent.

My own death, that is--I couldn't care less about my own. The death of my children i ...

I have been disturbed for a long time by what I perceive as a strong tendency of many posters to minimize human suffering.

There seems to be a quite pervasive attitude of almost enjoying the human ...

I'm not a doomer. In fact, ...

Do you have any idea ...
