Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

What has happened to the price of oil? It's now at $135/bbl, or about €90/bbl with $1.57/€. I'd love to get a graph of bbl/€ or bbl/Au, would clear up a lot of things.

I tried to use the correct spelling of naive, but got the very 406 code you described. Maybe cut-and-pasting Unicode is forbidden in this BBS.
