Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

What a couple of months. Personally, I have no idea what is going to happen. It is an economic circus. I am beginning to fear we may be at the Great Depression MK 2. I feel the credit contraction ...

My guess is GS doesn't understand the net-export theory. (Not really a theory). Even big shots like him who are aware of the problems associated with a global peak seem to have huge blind spots includ ...

I think we will s ...

The uranium supply question is effectively over. The 17% increase in proven reserves 2005 to 2007 show the idea that there are massive uranium resouces ready to be developed at very economic costs pr ...

What are everyones views on the oil price over the next couple of months?

Personally, I have sold most of my oil options. It was just too tempting. I am planning to buy futures on fibo retracemen ...

Mr Bill, do you think there is a chance oil futures could be regulated in future? It would be interesting to get your opinion.

It seems speculation is getting blamed for the latest spike. What re ...

You can believe what you like my friend, reality may not oblige however.

PostForum: Peak Oil Discussion   Posted: Sat May 17, 2008 4:05 am   Subject: Re: Rising Demand vs Peak Production
I think production will be broadly the same. Exports will be slightly down and hypothetical demand up. if oil jumps to $140-150 a barrel the game is up and peak oil will be mainstream. Although it ...

The real excitement will be in the last week of the year, when the high and low are already in, and the standings will depend a lot on the close, which will change daily. Yeah, like who will it be? M ...

I have been constantly surprised by how quickly prices have taken off.

The dollar/speculation factor is there but I am of the opinion the 87m barrel production no longer meets hypothetical world de ...

The Economist is a monetarist rag. It's one note tune about oil producers "drowning" in oil revenues is hilarious given that it does not make a squeak about the borrow and spend US economy. .

Read about the Japanse crash in 1990. The situation is very similar.

I've done a little reading about the Japanese deflation and that made me only more skeptical of the claims that we're headed fo ...
