Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

I believe the CDS are necessary because WaMu has a lot of unsecured debt, which I mentioned previously would not be covered by a FDIC takeover - or possibly even by a takeover by a larger bank.

Any ...

You know, if you go back and look at the weekly charts, there's been a pretty steady long term uptrend going since the beginning of 2007. Just before it got to $100 it did the same thing. It shot up ...

Natural gas August contract is NGU08 or in some systems ngu8. Crude August contract is CLU08.

Actually I misspoke. NGU08 and CLU08 are September contract not August. They both terminate (i.e. st ...

I always look at 321energy.com for natural gas prices, but what is the chart symbol for natural gas?

Nymex symbols are a two letter prefix, then a one letter month code, then the year.

Natural ...

Unfortunately, that scenario isn't an investment strategy anymore; it's a full-scale loss of confidence in paper currency, which would be an unmitigated disaster for everyone. We simply can't have eve ...

Seriously, have you tried using puts instead of shorting?

I actually was trading puts. Just shorting conveys the idea more concisely to the average reader. I'm almost exclusively trading options. ...

That's my new response to the SEC shorting regulation.

"I'm not a short seller. I'm a defacto long seller." Wink

No, LONG sellers are getting blamed for the decreasing price of oil. Get it now? Heh. I don't either. Rolling Eyes

Huge spike up in Amazon today. Their stock was up over 10%.
Sorry spg, but I don't call 10% moves "huge" anymore. I used to. But not with airlines and financials popping 100 or 200% at the drop of a ...
