How then, do we move backwards? How does a society, with most of the people having no clue of future events, move from being dependent on a vast and intertwined network of goods and services produced by the indigenous people of whereever, to a local resource and renewable energy based society, and do so in the timeframe available (20-30 years using the most liberal extimates, 10-20 with resonable estimates, 5-10 with worst case scenarios), all the while prices on everything increasing, world politics getting more militaristic, governments continuously reducing civil liberties, shortages of goods on the market and weather patterns resembling bad Hollywood movies?
You locked it and left it. There aren't even any votes for that option. At least make it a sticky!
You know what would be funny? If the hacker who has been messing up this site actually reads this stuff. It ends up moving, so he hacks the site, and moves it back. If that happens you'll have to nuke the thread, lol.
Whatever happens I'm sure we'll get another monster started. Peak Oil awareness is spreading on the internet, and there are many arguments to come. _________________ "If humans don't control their numbers, nature will." -Pimentel

It's only a temporary lock - honest.
When all's been decided (by you folks) in a couple of days I'll go with whatever and we'll see how things progress.
Yes, you're right, there may be other monsters, but wouldn't it be better for the clarity of debate if each of the topic areas discussed were kept in individual topics so key points wouldn't be missed and new posters were able to read the existing content quicker?
Or do you feel it's better that we do away with all the forums, bar one, and just have one large topic to discuss everything in? That seems to be what you are asking for?
Correct me if I'm wrong? _________________ Burning the midnight oil, whilst I still can.
I'm not really being serious. I'm just having fun arguing for my favorite thread. :D _________________ "If humans don't control their numbers, nature will." -Pimentel

I voted that it be moved to the HoF. It's too big and rambling, and the tone is...unprofessional, to say the least.
Long, rambling threads are a real pain, because when you search the forum, it only gives you the thread...not which page of the thread the subject you're looking for it on. It makes the search function kind of useless.
Of course, the search function isn't working now, anyway, but I'm assuming it will. One day. Eventually.
Think of how much time people spend posting there. Anyone who mainy wants to argue can go there. It's fine with me.
Personally, I don't read those threads, and no one can make me. I tell you what though, I hate to imagine what this site would look like if people didn't have anywhere to vent.
P.S. saying HOF is a place to vent is like saying to someone that if they must swear, can't they do it under their breath. It's just not the point.
A special thanks to all those posters who work hard to censor themselves just enough to ensure the conversation is constructive! :D
I have a suggestion: move all the threads you don't like to my site. I get no traffic anyway. _________________ http://www.openspeech.org - please visit and post!

Its posts like this that are just a waste of time. I don't want to spend the enrgy to debate peak oil.
Answering questions is deferent than debating with somebody who doesn't have an open mind.
I voted "other" but I favor deleting. This isn't nothing but a waste of one's and zero's.
Admin could create a forum for ramblings or threads of shame or something. Then when stuff like this comes up we can move it, lock it, then after a time delete it. _________________ Peace out!
