I just want to take the time to thank new members for logging on and sharing their opinions and knowledge with us. The quality of the forum improves when you post.

Let's try to add more grist for the mill here and flush out some lurkers. Don't be shy. You don't have to be brilliant and spell reel purdy, you just have to be genuine and have an opinion. Laughing

My name is John. Father of 4 living in Michigan. Background is US Naval Academy and aviation..... sailed the SoPac for three years on a 32 ft sailboat. Interested in PO... but still not completely convinced it will happen w/in the next ten years. Enjoy economics/finance and looking at PO from that perspective.

There are several bits of information one should never post on any board; particularly a potentially controversial board such as PO.
Among them are:

1. Occupation, unless given in very general terms,
2. Name,
3. DOB,
4. SSN,
5. Address,
6. Family details.

I'm sure there are other items better left unposted but the items on the above list are keys which can unlock a view into every other detail of your life and nothing good can ever come from that.

(edit) * And I would be a bit wary of anyone constantly posting details regarding their occupation.

I am truly a new member. Lurked for over a year tho.

I am an environmental consultant. Specifically, I measure stack emissions from a huge number of stationary sources used by the oil and gas industry. I've probably visited 60% of the pipeline, refinery, power plant, and natural gas production facilities in the western US over the past 15 years.

My professional life revolves around the combustion of fossil fuels (plus the occasional nerve agent incenerator and a tree-bark fired boiler or two)

Like I said, there are other things too such as license plates, phone numbers and probably a long list of other useful key bits of info.

The point is, use common sense when posting precise details.
