I just saw a news report on CBS about Iran's nuclear facilities. I noticed a strong trend. Everytime the voiceover said anything about the nuclear facilities, they tagged on "...WHICH COULD BE USED TO ENRICH URANIUM FOR NUCLEAR WEAPONS!" It went a little something like:

"This reactor, WHICH COULD BE USED TO PRODUCE NUCLEAR WEAPONS, is located southwest of Tehran."

"These water pipes produce heavy water, WHICH IS AN IMPORTANT STEP IN THE PROCESS OF CREATING NUCLEAR WEAPONS. Heavy water is also needed for electricity generation...

"Iran is thought to have a clandestine nuclear network spanning the entire nation, WHICH COULD BE CAPABLE OF RAPIDLY DEVELOPING NUCLEAR WEAPONS."

"Iran claims that its nuclear program is peaceful, BUT CAN YOU REALLY TRUST A NATION THAT KILLS DEFENSELESS KITTENS?"

Okay, maybe they didn't say that last part, but you get the idea... Shock

I most certainly do! It's a VERY effective propaganda technique. Mad

The scariest part? If CBS is running a story like this, what is FOX NEWS up to these days?! Shocked

Paranoia running wild!

Attack China! I don’t think we have anybody in our government that would go that far unless some new MAJOR events occurred. Like China invading Hawaii. I mean really people be reasonable.

Invading Iran could have occurred had they tried to jump in to defend Iraq. I believe it would have been a free for all then. Iran’s military couldn’t defeat Iraq’s army in what was it 8 or 10 years of a war. Our military would whip theirs but the people would not be defeated. Iran stayed out of it and we didn’t attack them. We have an understanding. You don’t strike us and we don’t strike you.

Invading Iran in the future? It all depends on what they do. I don’t believe with the current course being taken by the US leaders and the leaders of Iran that Iran will be invaded. The leaders of Iran are not giving our leaders the “bird”.

As for comparing the US government to Hitler. I guess I must be missing the part about millions of men women and children being gassed? Have I missed the news about the mass extermination of a people? Hitler! Oops, I forgot! Paranoia is running wild.

What would happen if all the Arab countries did cut of the oil to the US? It might be war or it might be the big wake up call the American people need to get their sh*t strait before the oil we still have in North America runs low.

Read up on Coal power plants. They emit a lot of radioactive particles, I'd be more worried about mercury in my fish then ammunition used in the deserts of Iraq.

Repeating what I said on another thread here:

China and Iran just signed a $70 billion, 30-year oil & gas deal.

I say, spring 2005, the US reinstates the draft. Training starts in 90 days. By late summer, there should be enough troops to "bring democracy" to Iran. Shocked

Your thoughts?

My thoughts are you don't know much about the US military. Think years, not days, to be actually ready to fight.

Just looking around, I can see the type of soldiers your going to get for a draft. I hope fast food and Xbox is abundant in the MidEast.

If you consider the technology involved in war. We may be farly well off. Just like a video game or a lan party. Hit the left mouse button to fire.

In the past, wars have accelerated the time to train a military. These wars are no exception. Six months, max.

The part that scares me most is that my brother is retired military. But I don't think the military will have "retired" in their dictionary much longer. My brother's 46, but he has 20 years' service under his belt, was an officer, and is quite fit (in fact, he's currently a track coach). If he's not called up and sent to the Middle East or Central Asia, he'll be put in a position here in the U.S. that PLANS the atrocities the soldiers over there (including his own sons, perhaps) must commit. He won't do it. My brother, a good, decent, loving man, husband, and father, may wind up a jailbird because he won't play the Resource Wars game. Mad

How long new, younger cannon fodder take to be trained when the draft comes back somehow seems a lesser question to me, what with considerations like the above. Forgive my "stupid idiocy." Mad

If we fight a war against Iran it won't be for oil,it'll be for Israel. Why?I havent a clue.

If we throw down with China, how will we equip our military?I mean, aren't they the ones who make our uniforms and various other equipment?

Hmmmm, maybe our soldiers could fight in the nude Smile
