If "it's bunker time" why the fark do you care about the price of gold? You evolved some enzyme that lets you digest the stuff?

as our society collapses allot of people will die. this is scary and depressing truth of the matter.

at the same time, when i talk to people about peak oil and environmental collapse many people shrug it off. "ill try to drive less" is the response i hear allot. no one can force another person to do anything. presented with the facts on the matter these people have made their choice. rather than radically alter their lifestyles to prepare they choose to be comfortable and let the catastrophe happen to them and its potentially deadly consequneces. im not going to make any judgements about them, this is their choice and there is nothing wrong with that. obviously i dont agree with that choice and i have made my own in which i make the preparations for the collapse.

some people respond to the situation by lobbying government. im going to put this bluntly: government cannot save you or anyone else. i think its a good idea to stop thinking nationally, and focus on the local community. please question your motives for going to the government, are you trying to save people who have chosen not to even try to save themsevles? if so, i ask you to please respect their choice, they have shown respect for yours, and besides this will only drain your energy and your emotions. it is a good idea for people to begin a dialouge on peak oil and the rest of the coming catastrophes. i believe we are faced with a situation in which our present way of life is completely unworkable and that it is time to try something different that works. working with vested interests like the state and fretting about people who just dont care is a good way to get stuck in old thought and negative behavior patterns which need to be discarded. it is not selfishness, it is respect, respect of other people and of self. this is very important in the quest to find something that works for each of us individually and in small groups. if you still worry about other people, i can say this: you change the world through the life you live, it is possible to inspire other people. it is allot easier if you show them respect then by arguing with them.

Can we be choosy about the choices chosen?

Is selection optional?

unfortunately mainly of those who have chosen to ignore the writing on the wall will the ones trying to steal our supplies when they get desperate. Or worse, they will be our friends and family whom we may not have enough to help...

what choice do you choose then?

I have trouble not fretting about the fact that people just don't care about the issue. They just plain don't care, are not interested. Sad

Or as we could say, they choose not to care or be interested. Whether it's a conscious or subconcsious decision is another matter.

They will care when they don't have a job, the gas station doesn't have gas at any price, there home has no electrity or heat or running water, paper dollar bills are worthless, and their son has been drafted for an oil war. And not a minute sooner. Mad

interesting!

There are as many reasons for people to not hear that we have problems ahead as there are people.

Change will occur but it is impossible to predict what it will be. I believe it will not be pleasant but who knows what will really happen.

Don't push the issue at people. When it is their time for people to listen. They will listen and not before.

I place the idea as if it were a seed. I plant it in their minds and watch it grow.

When a person tells me how much oil is underground here in the US. I ask why the companies began drilling off shore. Wouldn't it have been cheaper to just keep pumping all the oil that is underground here already?

Asking questions that raise thoughts in their minds.

In the mean time I try to do what I can myself. I began riding a 200cc motorcycle. I will begin modifing my pantry so as to keep stocks of food and have first in first out methods built in. I saw that on a mormon web site. I must waite for the money to do so but I will asap.

I prepare and when possible spread the word. I don't force it ever. Not anymore.

Currently most folks will think your crazy if you say to much about this. So don't panic and do what you can. Very Happy
