Oil's energy contribution has declined by about 12% since 1999. The world's economies have also declined by about 12%. (Using conventional metrics, which are time delayed determinations, this will only be seen in hind sight). The massive destruction of asset values now occurring testifies to it happening.
Peak is well behind us, world economies have peaked and will continue to decline.
The Inquiry is being convened by the Rural and Regional Affairs and
Transport Committee and will report by 15 June, 2006 with particular
reference to:
a. projections of oil production and demand in Australia and globally and
the implications for availability and pricing of transport fuels in
Australia;
b. potential of new sources of oil and alternative transport fuels to meet
a significant share of Australia's fuel demands, taking into account
technological developments and environmental and economic costs;
c. flow-on economic and social impacts in Australia from continuing rises
in the price of transport fuel and potential reductions in oil supply; and
d. options for reducing Australia's transport fuel demands.

I saw it was $1.29 last night, Eeeeek. I am wondering how people are managing not to feel just the slightest inkling that something might be very wrong ... *shakes head*

Petrol Stations celebrate HAPPY EASTER
EASTER holidaymakers will be hit with petrol prices that could top the $1.40 a litre heights of six months ago.
Fuel experts and motoring groups warned yesterday that a recent spike in prices at the bowser would gather further momentum ahead of the four-day break.
The price of unleaded petrol rose to $1.34 at service stations across Melbourne late yesterday - an increase of 14 cents a litre.
Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV) spokesman David Cumming said the rise was excessive, and there was no reason for it because demand for oil worldwide was currently equalling supply.
