Civilian gun ownership is, of course, virtually non-existent in both these countries. In China the only guns that can be owned are .177 air rifles, and in Japan the olympic pistol team are the only civilians with pistols. How do you explain that?

Mmmm, In Japan its not particularly difficult to own a shotgun, and not much more difficult to own a rifle. You have to do it the Japanese way of course, lots of registering this, approving that, checking and testing and whatnot.... It'd drive an American nuts; but seems par for the course for most interesting things in Japan.

We are a nation of risk takers. The stay at homes stayed at home. It is in our genes. Risk takers are reckless and sometimes dangerous. We kill each other quite readily with our automobiles and never think twice when we crank up and drive to the local stop and shop for a pack of cigarettes. Boys and girls it is who we are. You can worry about it or just go with the flow.

You guys clearly run in different circles than I do. We fly airplanes, scuba dive, carry guns, ride motor cycles, and drive Jeeps with the top down. We chase lobsters in the Keys and shoot sharks with AK’s. I am building an airplane I intend to fly across the U.S. My son is an attorney and is building the ultimate mud Jeep. You guys need to get out more. Join your local E.A.A. Dive a reef, sit on the front row of the Baptist church and read Nietzsche, go down to the range and pop a few caps, do something. There is a whole world of risk takers out there, but you have to get off your couch to meet them. T.V., what is that? I saw 15 minutes this weekend about the quake in Hawaii. As far as us being a bunch of woosies, your friendly French Pugeaut burners would not make it to the end of my street much less across town.

I agree a lot of americans are risk takers but they are now the minority (still at least over 3 million but minority compared to 300 million). Most sheople watch that above mentioned activities on T.V. and most american cities are completely shut down by one inch of snow on the ground or are busy suing some small business beacause the wheel chair ramp is slightly too steep, or making sure kids dont play "tag" in schools or whatever.

Agreed, every american should be spending every last fiat dollar they can muster and every last bit of credit the money masters will lend them on Guns and more importantly ammunition before they are banned. It would be interesting if Visa and Master card banned transactions on guns and ammo and precious metals.
