The post-peak oil, post-housing bust economy is already driving most crazy, and we won't even get to the food riot stage for maybe two more years.

a few days ago an article was posted here about what Bush/Cheney do know and there was also a speech mentioned Cheney held at the API in 1999 already.
I've found that one and I've thought It could be of interest here.

I am removing the lengthy body of the speech.
was placed in the following post linking to the speech. It is a good link and the entire speech can be found there.
This isn't a big deal but linking in such a way rather than posting an entire speech is generally accepted as a 'better practice'.

Mark_i, I don't think I am changing the content of you post. Just a minor adjustment in the method it is presented. Let me know if there's a problem and I will work to correct it. Thanks!

For the entire body of the speech go here: link

Thanks MissingLink
Thank you.- Applause.

Great posting...and things for the hi-lites.

I suspect our leaders know that Peak is coming; I also suspect they'll never tell us the truth.

Yes. And this has been the way of things for a long time. If Governments did not lie, then theories like 'no lone gunman' or 'The US Goverment destroyed the towers in NYC' would have almost no followers. (Insert YOUR local govenment legend here) Instead, you have citizens looking at the government with indifference to contempt to outright desires to overthrow with force of arms. I don't know what will move the masses from indifference to armed overthrow, but the historical comment would be a lack of bread and circuses.

Gotta recommend Mike Ruppert's "Crossing the Rubicon" for this topic. It's a real eye-opener! Shocked

Truth is within you, no-one else can tell it to you they can only give you hints or say what helped them.
Governments (or CEOs) are meant to govern things, that means they make decisions on how best to run what is required to keep societies going. I'm sure some of them are shamans at the same time, but it isn't their job to be that to people.
That's why it's important to build it all right from the start, then it's a case of showing the ropes and not berthing the thing for a re-fit or re-build.

I'd say it's blatant that what is actually going on is that some thickos saw an opportunity to take advantage of many things writ and said, as to the Middle East and planning for attacks and that sort of thing, so that it would seem like some low-level reason for a war was going on.
Oxy-moronic phrases and concepts such as:
Oil Barons in the Mid-East in control and working with US govt.
alongside
US having to go to war to get oil
what is that, Two different parallel universes?!

One of them has a Saddam that the CIA put into power and 'lost control of' so that he - somehow - controlled oil shieks and told them who to sell oil to?! Even tho' he didn't.............

I guess we know where you stand on at least one issue.
Beer Buff Dragon, you are entitaled to you opionions as we all are. I do believe the president new about Peak Oil. I read where Mathew Simmons stated something to the effect of having Mathew Simmons help get the word out. So yes, I do believe the President has known about peak oil for a least a little while. Everytime a President takes office. He will get many of the best PhD types and leaders in industry, leaders in an area of expertise to inform him to as much of what is happening as is possible.

Here is a link to a page with a wrtten transscript when Simmons speaks about what he and the President said to each other: link
go to number 11 and listen. I just found that the site that hosted his transcripts is now charging money to get the transscripts. At this moment the link to the audio is good but that could change.
On another thread here somewhere I posted and quoted Mr. Simmons from this site before the pay to learn about Peakoil began to occur.

That's a horrible energy to have to deal with - you are trying to look down your nose at me as if I am someone you and whoever your 'we' are are allowed to discuss or think of in some curiosity-shop-manner. Disguisting.
Then you say that I am entitled to my opinions too, but you say it in such a way that it's blatant that you wish you could be a fascist dictator and stop people with a brain that think for themselves having their own opinions. Such school-marm attitudes don't work on me, I don't have a 'dirty penis' I'm female.

Bush has most likely seen all the CSETI type stuff, so I don't think you're really placed to make claims about energy, he probably doesn't think there is a peak, if he did then I'd be worried that they haven't shown him a damn thing. But I know they have, because I look at things with my eyes, not with what someone else's thought-filter in a dimension just above this one tells me I should be clouding my mind with.

What on Earth are you taking about. For me to have enough respect for you to accept your opinion no makes me a want to be fascist dictator? Blatant?

I am truly sorry you have such a narrow view of other people. I am not looking down my nose at you! I am trying to figure out how you can come up with such stuff.
How did you ever get this

from this

Is it possible for us in a manor that shows mutual respect for each other to both accept we have different ideas and opinions and not look down on each other? To not hate or think ill of each other. To simply disagree?

I thought my earlier statements were an attempt to be respectful of you and then you tell me I am looking down my nose at you and want to be a fascist dictator.
I guess this shows how different our ideas are. I am truely sorry that you have such ill feelings that you can take a statement that was meant in the best of ways and change it so.

Fine then weirdo, do please explain how it is at all possible for you to type 'you are entitled to your opinion' to anyone, without your first having the idea somewhere inside your head that whom you are posting to did not already know that they are entitled to their opinion?

Cause unless you can explain that mindset, it does appear from your words that you think you had to inform me of that, therefore you think very little of me. Just address what's there, don't add in bits of distraction from what the topic is about.

Could it be so simple as to be that I was hoping you and I could simply agree to disagree in a respectful way. I haven't been reading into what you type. I have not called names or written in a condisending way. I haven't made remarks that speak of my own thoughts of others sexuality.

If you take my words at face value. You will be much closer to the actual meaning. I don't have a dirty penis either. Shock I wash mine daily. Laughing
The more you write about what you know about me and everybody else the less I respect you. So now I will leave you with the last word. Tell me what you think of me now. Shock

Duffbeerdragon, you are on the rag. (And don't flame at me because I'm a woman too) In my objective read of this thread, you did take Missinglink too personally and you overreacted to his response to you. He was just trying to point out some clues to how Bush knew about Peak Oil. There was no need to flame at him. You had an opportunity to have a good debate/discussion but you had to carry away like a chick Razz
