Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

You don't have to tell me about women and materialism, I live in Hong Kong, probably the worst place in the world for anyone with anti-consumerist tendencies to find a mate. They're all mad for money and shopping over here. Women often ask how much money a man makes on the first date. Women often marry for money, and they don't even have the decency to lie about it and feign romantic interest.
But don't you think that somewhere in this great, wide world there's a nice clued-in girl complaining about how all the guys are total idiots drooling over Ferraris at a car show?

I wonder how long it'll be before the popular "matchmaking" services start including a free credit check.

I just read this and saw the opportunity to give you guys some hope.
My daughter is such a young woman; there must be others out there . She has a boyfriend (he doesn't have much money but has lots of good qualities).
