I think this is the beginnings of an economy based on perpetual growth and fossil fuel energy running headlong into geological energy constraints. Basically I see an undulatory downward path for the rest of my life. From here out, I think any rallies in our economic condition are going to be met with spiking commodity prices that knock us right back down.

What's so wrong about Spanish origin people?
Is their culture so different to that of the US?
Would you be very upset if your son or daughter married a Spanish speaker? If so, why?

I don't think you asked the right questions... Most people's problems with ILLEGAL immigration is that amnesties like what they are trying to pull reward people in a group defined by the fact that they broke the law to come here and likely committed fraud to get jobs. This puts law abiding people who want to come here at a disadvantage. We want law abiding people to come, not people that are criminal the minute they set foot here. _________________ -Dac

No, that's not my problem with it. Illegals are the symptom. The cause is letting our pursuit of unhindered capitalism and free trade is the cause. A free market operates in theory with no limitations. Thats why we now have free trade where we can import stuff made more cheaply abroad. The counterpart is a free flow of cheap labor to those jobs we cant outsource. Business knows this. Lots of people competing for the same jobs means lower labor costs for them. Those shits have twisted the government into being their personal recruitment center to ensure people keep coming here by passing practically toothless immigration laws and failing to even enforce them. Come on, when our OWN IRS hands out Tax ID numbers so those here ILLEGALLY can LEGALLY pay taxes, you know the system is up to no good. In my mind illegal workers arent breaking the law anymore than corporate america which wants a never ending stream of cheap labor or our own government that has gotten hooked on the whole con game.

Do not generalize, it always leaves you vulnerable. I am a wasp, my wife is 100% hispanic. I have no problem with mexicans at least they work, unlike the millions on welfare in this country. The only problem I have is they should come here LEGALLY.

Corporations drive this hands down.
Ethnic lobbies and the political parties support it because it increases their relative clout compared to others. It's a no-brainer why hispanic activists and the Democratic Party support immigration. Repubs do so in deference to business and the *hope* that 20-30 years from now todays hispanics vote like the Italians do now. Dont forget the Catholic church...immigration keeps the pews (and coffers) full.
Government is in the middle of my list because they are in the middle of everything by default. They do not drive immigration policy but instead react to the prevailing conditions. Sure they make things easier (much easier actually) for immigration now, but they could clamp down if they wanted to. The US used to have a very restrictive immigration policy in the 1920s and 30s.
Illegals. They are pawns in this, but they are willing. They did assume the risk in coming here in pursuit of a reward. They are only here because factors 1 - 3 are encouraging them.
Finally you and me (US citizens). Yeah, we share in the blame. We clamor against people coming here yet have no problem with the economic system that allows affordable lawn care, produce and the mass production of household goods in other countries. We are an ineffective force to change factors 1-4 cos we have gotten fat and lazy being attended to by the fruits of illegal labor. Many of also wont consent to a universal tamper proof ID either. It's as if we want the labor without the costs.

With just the tiniest dose of common sense you should be able to figure out your own questions.
But for you and your rocket scientist buddies like "drew", let me try to help...
1. We're at or near PO, population overshoot, financial bankruptcy, gw, etc, etc.....we need more millions of Mexicans, or anybody else like another hole in the head.
2. While dumb as a bucket of rocks liberals love to scream "rascism", the biggest problem by far is we don't need nor want millions of more mouths to feed. Spinning the problem as "culture" differences, while your favorite tactic, is far down the list of real world problems with their illegal entrance.
3. Again, as a far lower priority, why should I feel the need to house and feed millions of Mexicans who breed like rats and do indeed have a different culture?
Because you, drew and others say so?
4. The simple fact is a few Mexicans illegally moving into a community would be a small problem.
But in the real world what happens is the Mexicans come in by the boatload, breed like flies and in a small amount of time they've obtained the population majority which shortly results into a defacto Mexican community with their culture, their gang bangers and their endless needs for entitlements. Obviously, working "for us" is hardly their goal then.
Take a vacation to SoCal or SoTexas and see for yourself.
