that's because 85% of people in general are douche bags and are not happy unless they are either bitching, moaning, complaining or are just not happy with their own lives and have to put down and belittle others to make themselves feel better.
I'd agree with that (though maybe not quite 85%). It's important to keep this in mind so you don't waste too much time with assholes. Granted we can all be assholes at times but it's good to pay attention to trends (if someone's consistently a jerk to someone else, chances are eventually they will be to you). _________________ My PO Amazon store (shameless plug).

I am still trying to figure out why he said Cheney was Prez...right out of the gate.
I almost turned it off and I am sure quite a few equated PO with Y2K hysteria and lunatics.
Beside that statement I thought it was ok, but WTF!!!
Bush - whether we like it or not is prez and Cheney is VPrez - that's just the way it is today.

Divide and conquer. That's the game that's been played against us for years. There's not a nickel's worth of difference between the Bush-Cheney-Ites, and those who would replace them from the left. As a matter of fact, they're probably pursuing the only possible realpolitik path in the mid-east. Put large forces there, supposedly to "democratize" the undemocratizable Iraqis, but with the latent function of securing the oil fields in the region - at least as much as they can be secured.
It's sad to see people seize on the Demopublican versus Republicrat shadow show as something worthy of being given the time of day in these important issues.

Trash moved to the Hall of Flames.
I am only part way though... Sounds good Matt. I will have to finish the broadcast later. _________________ "Peak oil isn't more than an interesting industry factoid and doesn't have anything to do with the hysterics speculated on ad nauseum around here!" ReserveGrowthRulz

It could have used more specific information about how things are going to get bad & what to do about it (besides moving to a rainforest with under 50 people per square mile). _________________ My PO Amazon store (shameless plug).

It would appear that most politicians are marching to the same drummer with only a slightly different cadence. The major difference seems to be that of control not course. _________________ A Saudi saying, "My father rode a camel. I drive a car. My son flies a jet-plane. His son will ride a camel."

I have absolutely no respect for Matt Savinar. I destroyed him in a debate on his boards and through back-and-forth emails. He quickly censored me on the boards – he banned me and all my posts disappeared REAL quick. Yet he emailed me directly several times afterward and literally reported back to his little flock of zealots via his own posts. How absurd! He wouldn’t let me “say” anything directly to the group …hmmmm. (Of course, I saved all the emails – very amusing). I didn’t use anything near excessive profanity or call him terrible names. Many others on the boards do much more, but, of course, not directed at Matt or his ideas! Being a lawyer, one may think he knows better. But, the reality is, he needs a lesson in censorship, brush up on his debating skills and work on his logic (especially with his views and opinions).
The reality is, he wouldn’t let it stand because someone articulately disagreed with some what he has to say and (more strongly of) his methods. He also must have been scared that his flock would have obviously saw that he was torn up in our debate (they really do treat him like some kind of a prophet – quite amazing!).
He acts like he is so altruistic, but I have seen his site get more and more commercial over the past couple years (he did tell me he leads “ very Spartan” life – however, that may not have been of his choosing until he found this little charade).
Obviously, peak oil is a phenomenon that should be taken seriously, but Matt and his followers are salivating at the chance for complete social breakdown. The funny thing is, I’d wager the vast majority of his followers wouldn’t last a week in some post-apocalyptic world – even with their organic roof-top gardens!
What I can’t stand is the way they all WANT this to happen. They play like they don’t, but carefully read their posts. It’s kind of like weathermen salivating for a hurricane …
The classic thing is, we will go through some very tough transitions in terms of energy, but these clowns are wasting their entire lives “preparing” for this – it’s utterly ludicrous!
And to those who want to “prove” anything to me, I’ have been reading on this for years. I don’t doubt there will be problems and adjustments, but I can’t understand this zealousness.
Every few weeks Matt posts “Breaking News” of which he or someone else essentially claims it is the harbinger of the end of society (or nearly so). A personal favorite was the Iranian Oil Bourse. Some guy from Russia was all over saying how we’d go to war with Iran over this, and, better yet, this would be the end of the petrodollar. How idiotic! You can exchange currency now so anyone can buy oil with ANY currency! Of course, the sheep all stayed right in line saying how this was the end. Of course, it came and went with no great consequence and, of course again, Matt and company just ignored it. No discussion. . No explanation as to WHY the world didn’t fall apart as advertised … hmmmm …
Today it is a “crises” in Mexico. My bet is it will come and go. Boy, if Matt had a million years, just by the law of averages, he may be right some day (and please don’t defend him on this – there are MANY of these “breaking news” stories which come and go with predictions of social breakdowns all the time that haven’t played out!).
Of course there will be wars, problems, recessions, etc all the time – we’re HUMAN BEINGS and it‘s part of the makeup. We’re little monkey-mammals and we just can[t always get along. That said, don’t waste your life HOPING for an end to society. Matt claims his site and opinions aren’t a part of some “doomsday cult, apocalypse bible prophecy sect, or conspiracy theory society” but what is the difference? HE can say THEY are all nuts, but … hmmmm.
In 50 years, I’d be willing to bet that history will see him and his ilk as the equivalent of the zany “world is going to end” sign carriers of yesteryear …
