Light Sweet Crude Oil

Member Quotes
Oil's energy contribution has declined by about 12% since 1999. The world's economies have also declined by about 12%. (Using conventional metrics, which are time delayed determinations, this will only be seen in hind sight). The massive destruction of asset values now occurring testifies to it happening. Peak is well behind us, world economies have peaked and will continue to decline.

Quote:
Background: The oil producing wells in the United States and other regions of the world have already reached their peak and are now sliding downward. When this happens world-wide, the only way to prevent a global catastrophe is to be ready with viable alternatives. Some of the more attractive alternatives are decades away. Do we have the time? Many competent analysts say no. Others disagree. We can not decide on our best alternative to move forward with, if we don't have a credible estimate for the time frame for global peak oil production. It is therefore necessary to process the spectrum of disagreement, and reduce it to our best estimate todate. To that end The School of Engineering at Case Western Reserve University has commissioned this BiPSA project in which the estimate is extracted via a series of binary questions. By responding to these questions the community of experts generate an integratable field that leads to the desired community wisdom based estimate for peak oil.

The options at the bottom will select a very narrow field of expertise. I am not convinced they understand where the majority of it lies.

not to mention they misspell "Hubbert," calling him "Hubbard" (on their front page, not the one linked here).

That's not usually a good sign.

I don't give my phone number or email out to anyone (especially when they can't spell).

I already have enough spammers and crazy people calling to sell me things!

Thank you all for your posted comments, all of them have been incorporated in the new round, instigated by the hundreds of respondents to the first round. All your comments are featured in the "peers" section of the new, and vastly improved site (www.peakoilwhen.org). You can now vote on the likelihood of Peak Oil for 2010,2015, and 2020, and also vote on whether you believe a geologist more than you believe an economist, or vice versa. The new round challenges your Peak Oil insight with a stock appraisal. You will get the community vote on the stock that you vote on, and you can use that info for your investment strategy. If your stock picking is right, then your impact on the integrated opinion of peak-oil will increase. Help us develop an integrated estimate of all the oil-thoughtful people we can find, and then present the politicians with an estimate they will not be able to ignore. lend us your opinion: www.peakoilwhen.org

thanks!

Gideon
