Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.
If he spoke out, he might say that he worries so that the rest of us may sleep. It is also possible, however, that by striking out at imagined demons, he is creating real ones.

I admire Dick Cheney, he looks like the kind of guy that'd shoot you in the face and go eat a sandwich. He may or may not be an evil bastard,
but he gets things done. For the record I don't see him as evil just seriously ruthless, machiavellian and smart. Those are admirable attributes in his proffesion, this is why I don't like an overly powerfull political class. Cheney though? That's a top class operator...

I'll admit, he would make a really good supervillain and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Lex Luthor became the president of the United States in 2000, winning the election on a platform of promoting technological progress (his first action as president was to take a proposed moratorium on fossil-based fuels to U.S. Congress).
Luthor is assisted by the extreme unpopularity of the previous administration's mishandling of the Gotham City earthquake crisis.
