Hoarding is exactly what the government is doing right now by filling the SPR, and frankly it's the best thing that could happen. It drives prices up. High prices encourage demand destruction. They also finance new well development. The hoarded oil gives us a buffer to fall back on once shortages become more prevalent. High prices are what we need in order to adapt to what's coming, and the sooner they happen, the better.

Yes Peakoil.com should endorse Ron Paul.

Peak oil is mostly going to be an economic issue. Ron Paul will handle it better than anyone else. He wants to reduce the size of government tremendously, bring home our troops, abolish the Private Bank owned Federal Reserve, back our currency to gold and silver, and get rid of the income tax. The extra money Americans will have from that alone will go a long ways to helping post peak.

He also will help stablize our dollar and that will keep the price of oil going up froma weakening dollar.

He also will keep Americans from losing their freedoms post-peak which is very likely under another President.
Chuck

OK....so how does the US pay down its national debt without a federal income tax? And how does not paying down the national debt help stabilize the dollar?

It is my understanding that personal income disparities would only increase under a Ron Paul administration. In an era of persistent shortages, those with the freedom to live comfortably will be the monied class. The freedoms of others will essentially be dictated by the wealthy minus the government's cooperation.

The libertarian mantra of Ron Paul is that man will do the right thing if only he was released from the constant meddling of the federal government. This just seems naive. It is human nature that is the root of all evil, not the government. The nature of government is merely a reflection of how a people chooses to organize itself. Our goverment is corrupt because people are corrupt. Reorganizing our government doesn't deal with the root problem: human nature.

Under Ron Paul, we would only substitute one system of corruption for another system of corruption.

I don't know if I believe in the way authority is allocated in our country, however if I was forced to choose a President, I would choose somebody who realized the truth that no fundamental outer change can occur without a concurrent inner change. The individual must change for anything profound to happen on a collective level.

An honest candidate must be somebody who lives the truths that they see as helping to address the world's environmental and social crises. It is not just talk...it is personal action that counts.

First the income tax:

Without the Personal Income tax, the governments' income from the other taxes including the Corporate Income tax would still be at 2000 levels.

So it's not that radical like Ron Paul argues.
Once again: It's NOT RADICAL. It is if you want to police the world and have government pork and large government bureaucracies that get nothing done and waste money.

Reducing spending to 2000 Levels will be tough but bringing home the troops and shutting foreign bases helps a lot towards that goal.

Ron Paul will eliminate the income tax for all Americans by incredibly reducing the size of government and bringing our troops home from the 737 overseas bases.

Education is paid for mostly by states.
Roads are paid for by the gas tax.
Social Security has its own tax.
Medicare has its own tax.

The CORPORATE INCOME TAX is exactly the amount of money we CURRENTLY, with our escapades overseas, pay for military expenditures.

He will bring our troops overseas home, which is costing this country close to $1 trillion a year. He still believes in protecting the country and a strong military but wants to end the foreign escapades which has historically been a VERY CONSERVATIVE POSITION as well as the position of the founding fathers.

The country ran fine before the income tax was forced on the American People in 1913.

Learn more about Ron Paul's ideas of reducing government and ELIMINATING the Income Tax here at MINUTE 27:
http://www.ronpauldvdproject.com/

CONSERVATIVES used to believe in limited government and lower taxes. Ron Paul is the ONLY real CONSERVATIVE.

We don't need the income tax if we do as Ron Paul proposes.

We really need smaller government in this country and less taxes. Do you realize how well our free markets would do if we could reduce taxes to even half of what they are today? Ron Paul might be able to do atleast that.

Wouldn't it be amazing to even have your income tax reduced by half!? People could save for their own retirements then and we could phase out the Social Security tax and the Medicare tax like Ron Paul wants to.

I'll take the extra money and save for my own retirement thank you. I'm voting for Ron Paul:

There will also be another major Money Bomb like the record $4.3 million Ron Paul earned in one day on November 16th, the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.

Then DONATE to Ron Paul....Many others are on these boards.

With the close to a $1 trillion a year that Ron Paul could save this country by closing the 737 U.S. foreign bases and bringing the troops home from our oil wars, we could easily pay down national debt.

We could also easily fund major alternative energy goals when Ron Paul realizes the problems there.

The money he would free up could be used for good.

His returning the U.S. to asset backed currency would also reduce inflation helping the poor people that are mostly robbed from this.

I mentioned before, I know Ron is aware of the situation because I have had a personal conversation with him about it. Of course his position would be to allow individuals to plan for their own lives because "he is not smart enough" to allocate resources the best way. I think the best thing a President Paul could do would be to go on television and advice Americans of the situation.

I don't think he realizes the severity of the problem. I think he thinks market forces can fix it.

I know he'd be the only candidate to not go after ridiculous programs like ethanol and of course wouldn't go to war for oil.

Atleast with all the money he'll save the country from pulling the troops home, Americans will have more money in their pockets to deal with the financial problems coming.

Ron being the honest straight shooter he is would tell the Americans about the problem.

I'm not seriously considering an endorsement, & have not been asked.

I was curious what the board thought though.

Interesting discussion.

Praise HawkMan.

Yeah, actions speak louder than words. This guys environmental record is horrible. Clinton's is so much better.

I can't believe there is so much support for him on this site. If po.com should endorce anyone it should be Clinton and her climate change energy policy.

Ron Paul will be interviewed live on CNN Headline News tonight at 7 PM Eastern with repeats at 9 PM and 12 AM.

Perhaps his followers will blow the ratings through the roof?
