| Quote: | | The stock market is trading in a choppy manner as Bernanke speaks. Among other statements, Bernanke said the FOMC expects growth to 'slow noticeably' in Q4 and that inflation pressure from oil may further restrain the economy. He also reiterated that the Fed will 'act as needed' on growth and inflation. |
'act as needed'; does that mean he will rub his magic lamp twice; in hopes that the Jinn will pop out? |

Ron Paul pissed him off. you could see Bernanke squirm. Someone laughed at the end of Paul's talk.
Good stuff. |

I got to listen to this as I drove into work on Sirius. Good job Ron Paul.
I particulary liked the period of unconfortable silence at the end of Ron Paul's grilling. I wish I was watching it in person so I could see Bernake's face.
I'm glad I'm not the Fed Chairman. |

| Ron started out by lecturing Mr helicopter on the subject of money printing. Bernanke just sat there with a sort of disrespecting smirk on his face. |

It won't help.
But that was kick ass to watch and I think his Presidential campaign just got a million new supporters. He told him exactly how it was and showed been for the fraud that he is.
They are saving this country by destroying the wealth of its citizens. |

I agree with Eli on this one. Even though it won't do much, it was a great thing to watch. _________________ "if god doesn't exist, it is necessary that we invent him" - Voltaire

Why is everybody so supportive of Ron Paul here? No offense but I would never consider voting for him considering what I read on him on wikipedia:
| Quote: | | Paul has been called conservative, Constitutionalist, and libertarian.[2] He advocates non-interventionist foreign policy, having voted against the Iraq War Resolution, but in favor of force against terrorists in Afghanistan. He favors withdrawal from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the United Nations; supports free trade, rejecting NAFTA as "managed trade"; and opposes amnesty and birthright citizenship for illegal aliens. Having pledged never to raise taxes, he has long advocated ending the federal income tax and reducing government spending by abolishing most federal agencies; he favors hard money and opposes the Federal Reserve. He also opposes the Patriot Act, the federal War on Drugs, and gun control. Paul is strongly pro-life, advocates the overturn of Roe v. Wade, and affirms states' rights to determine the legality of abortion. |
I agree with how he voted on Iraq and Afghanistan, but that's about it. Ofcourse I'm not American, so you can consider this the humble opinion of a foreigner, thank you. |

| Bas-- I know, he sounds looney to me, too. But he's the kind of shock therapy that might work for the US. If he scuttles Nafta it could create protectionist policies in Canada and Mexico and that may help Americans in the long run. If not, he could possibly unleash Hell. |

I don't know anything about Ron Paul's politics, I just think he makes good TV with his British-style confrontational interview technique. It's a little taste of the treatment Bernanke would receive on Newsnight. Politicians appear on that show usually only when the situation calls for them to make a blood sacrifice.
I can imagine the grilling they receive from the Prime Minister. "You have failed and undermined our credibility. There is only one way we can lay this to rest. You will appear on Newsnight."
