I think it's a good hedge. What would you rather have, some beer, or the respect and reverence of a lot of people on a lunatic fringe website?

`Inventory levels in the western world are quite tight,'' said Johannes Benigni, managing director at PVM Oil Associates in Vienna. ``Global oil demand growth is still increasing significantly,'' he said, adding that crude will reach $120 a barrel this year.
These rankings are based on the total differential of each of the three forecasts vs. the current data set, which is only about 8 days. The "close" is the last piece of data reported.
I'll do it later based on the most accurate forecasts in each category.

Note to zensui: I am game to play in Euros, but sometime in the next year, your assignment will be to find a source of daily euro/dollar conversion prices that I can paste into an excel spreadsheet.
(...)
type "euro" in google, copy and paste first result (today: 1 Euro = 1.4709 U.S. dollars)
...in Mac OS X there should be dashboard front-ends. _________________ anagami.net

For the fun of it (1 more variable), could we post predictions in both $ and €? For this, can there be some days more for posting or editing the predictions?
but I don't even have a cute little euro key... Will I have to send my cpu back to china for a new key or will there be a new versions of windows that automatically changes one of those keys that I never use any way into the cute little euro sign?
I think my Spanish keyboard layout is from Spain, that's why AltGr + E = €
I'm about to switch to 99% Unix, basically Mac OS X and Linux... on a Mac you can configure whatever combination of keys to whatever symbol...
For rare symbols (on keyboards) but that are part of unicode, like Costa Rica's currency, I type "colones" on google or wikipedia and copy and paste the symbol:

nope. This only gives the price today. It might change tomorrow.
If I do this on December 31, I will have the maximum and minimum price based on the the "Dec 31" Euro price. I want the maximum and minimum for the year, based on whatever price it is that day.
That's why I need a spreadsheet for the daily Dollar/Euro price. Then, easy to compute the maximum and minimum oil price in Euros for all of the days.
I cannot get excited about looking this up every day. I would rather follow the Weekly Petroleum Status Report.

I am laid back. You can make predictions any time you want.
However, the longer you wait, the less respect and admiration you will get from the fellow forum dwellers.

Pup, anytime you need to see the price of crude in euros let me know. Cheers
Thanks, Mr. Bill, but what I really need is a spreadsheet with the daily prices on it. I can then use it to do the calculations for the entire year, and then calculate the maximum and minimum. I will not need it for 50 weeks, however, so plenty of time to find one.
The EIA gives one for the daily oil price, no problemo.

Pup55, when the time comes I will just send you the historical data from Bloomberg. I might even be able to load it into a spreadsheet already? Dunno, I am pretty crap at that, but I might ask them to do it for me? ; - ) But in any case the one-year 2008 chart will show the high, low, average and last price anyway in USD, EUR or whatever currency you want. Cheers. _________________ The organized state is a wonderful invention whereby everyone can live at someone else's expense.
