my man
you can paint anyway you like since 1985. this place has been a disaster. 20 million illegal aliens. 25 trillion waisted on education for what.? bascially same unemployment rate. 4 recessions. 9 trillion in the hole.
3 million displaced new jersey and nyc residents. That have had to move to carolinas and florida. So they can have any shot at a quality of life. so all of that capital intvesment gone. Moved out.
exploding cost of living. Absolutely no savings for most.
And still you want to pay more to these free loaders. mexicans everywhere you look.
just a total disaster.
just a calamity. 30 years ago we had problems. like interest rates or Rock or Disco lllolll.... or Unions or no Unions.
i dont think anyone could of imagined this demograhic financial dollar crisis.

I just can't get the idea out of my head that with a good beat, some catchy songs, you could come up with a great musical, about the out of balance New York, New Jersey lifestyle. Opening scene could be a cabbie at his computer and you could call it "Vent"! Whaddya say? Should we put on a show?

lllolll...
yeah man when obama walks in He needs to do some serious Fdr world war 2 crap here. like first 120 days type crap. Where talking 20 bills in 120 days. etc,.
but if he goes to washington. And he gets stuck. Or gets swallowed. And it still takes congress 1 year and a half to vote on a bill saying that a car has four wheels.
like it has over the last 15 to 20 years. Where almost nothing is getting done. Like Anuar alaska.
if thats the case. Then i've sceen enough. And prob going to move to the midwest.
Then Prob looking to apply for a visa to Australia or Norway,.,.

ohh thread man
the taxi is great. all i do is make money and buy shares. im buying GM now. cause it pays 30 cents every 3 months. nothing like nyc at night.nothing like giving another new yorker the middle finger.
living in nyc is great. hundreds of new condos. and still no new roads.

bonner, I live in the midwest and the salaries you talk of for teachers and police officers are quite inflated for my area. I believe the starting salary for a police office here is around 36k and for a teacher about the same, probably a little less if it is a not so great school.
As far as 50 students per class thing, well some schools that are overcrowded probably do have those numbers, especially in high school. And the institution of school is not necessarily the only route for our children. Homeschooling is probably by far a better alternative, especially if there is little gas to get to and from school post po.
And as for foreigner's getting jobs over americans, i would say its only half the school's fault, the other half, the parents. Our parents did not instill the value of education and studying in us on the most part, like many foreigners, one of which I happened to be married too. And yes he is a very hard worker and he is the top salesmen in his firm, in the region. "american" kids are too busy playing some video game, or watching tv or off doing soccor, football, basketball etc. etc. to spend time studying. Most american children's biggest teacher is their tv.
And as far as cutting salaries, what about those actors, and wretched sports stars salaries? Those should be slashed first...

i dont know of any sport star or actor or singer.
thats getting paid from property tax. here there are cops clocking 75 k. teachers 100 k.
the only solution is one i thought of years ago. And that is we take all the abandon and current Barracks. and refurb them Turn them into apartments. stick them in there.
And then all civil servants have to live there for the first 5 years. Till they have enough for a house. Then cut them loose. Like the army. That way They have their house. No more crying. Or raises Ever!.
And we keep them at
25 k a year. For Ever.
Thats an interesting solution i propose. in fact it just sounds interesting. Fact is dominican republic and venezuela and chilie have been doing that for a while.

and let me tell you i dont know about the midwest. but here with gas at 4 bucks a gallon. now for 1 year. maybe 2. Thats enough for them to start crying. So now you can be sure they are going to ask for another one in 2 years. new jersey 2 billion in the hole.
its so bad. that this year 48,000 people are moving out of new jersey. Here in hudson county where i live. Anyone born after 1960 in new jersey. Or new jersey citizen. Meaning K through age 35.
no longer lives here. Everyone born in this state or Original new jersey citizens are pooof gone to florida. or the carolinas. Meaning born here rasied here. There might be in the whole county my generaiton maybe 15,000 people left here. born here out of 500,000.

hey i dont care i just care.
cause in the end i'm 37 and have no children or wife. Nor planning to or interested in. so in the end i care for no reason. Cause really its very easy to preserve myself if have too.
but fleecing cocerns me. the savings rates people have today concern me. and the financial situation worries me too. without banks we got problems.
and so i know kids have to be educated. and police and firemen and crap. But?
Not to the point of defualt.
Not to the point of like 25 states in the red. No they dont need to be educated that much!. or people paid that much.

Purchasing food would be a good option for a short-term crisis.
This is not a crisis. This is a fundamental change in our way of life.
Stockpiling items, is only going to result in some form of looting, or spoilage. The most important thing to do, is to stockpile knowledge.
Learn post oil skills. learn to garden with skill. Learn to make things that are useful to your neighbors. Learn first aid, and other medical skills. Most of all, get to know your neighbors. If we behave as a community, we'll find ways to work together through this.
Perhaps each location should build a list of post-oil skills, and build on that?

mrdennmann,
That's exactly what makes sense to me. A lot of small communities that can do what they need to for everyday life. Older small towns often have that, of necessity, if thay are some distance from a big city. So, we chose such a town in a farming area. I don't farm, just garden, but I do repairs for farmers and homesteaders. In the area are people who produce fruits, vegetables, grain, milk, beef, poultry, timber-logging-lumber, furniture, honey, greenhouse plants, and some manufacturing plants. We have people that cover the skilled trades, medicine, and veterinary needs. All of this is within a 5 mile radius of our home. Biking distance.
However the future shapes up, our locals will adjust to it and get along, I think, far better than larger urban areas due greater localization at present.
In the medium term, Indiana has a lot of coal, and electrical generating plants. In the north are the remains of a steel industry, a very high tech electronics plant (Delco Electronics), aluminum smelters and foundries. There is still some local natural gas that supplies them. There is the remains of the old Pennsyvania and Southern railroads with sidings to a lot of the smaller cities due to the industries there. And we have a LOT of limestone, sand, gravel, cement plants, a coking plant, brick plants, and river shipping is healthy.
So far, climate change hasn't hit Indiana with the ferocity of the deep south and the southwest droughts and floods. Good rainfall and soil support a huge farming enterprise.
If you cut all of the above resources in half, there is still spare capacity to export from the state. I think we'll be okay for a while, although with a lot of suffering in the cities and high unemployment. Beyond that, is anyone's guess. Peak Oil is going to kick our butt like everyone else, but it seems to me we will fare better at the beginning. _________________ Local fix-it guy..

Interesting rant. Hey Bonner how much do you extract from the society? Ever dial 911 for help and when you do do you care if anybody shows up?
If you are truly interested in a fleecing of biblical proportions I would set my sights a little higher than local teachers, cops and fireman. How about a war over 6000 miles away costing 12 billion per month in fiat cash and many, many human lives. Or what about corporate CEOs extracting 300 times the pay of their workers in companies that fail.
Have you ever visited Washington DC and seen the bloat? The Feds are massive now, Thomas Jefferson would puke. The cost of the massive second sovereign exceeds human comprehension. Therein lies your predicament so how to fix that level of over-spending?
