Meanwhile, keep watching for shortage reports, because we should start seeing some sneak in this week, if our doom-o-meter is calibrated correctly.

Store and email list are still down.

OK, I just wanted to mention that if it transpires that your server had some kind of a mechanical problem, this could not have been directly caused by a DoS attack or an increase in traffic.

What makes you say that? I'm not technical enough to know and won't get to talk to my firm till tomorrow.

I've been an international IT troubleshooter for a while, as well as a technical architect. I've designed the infrastructure for a resilient web-site for the UK government. I've also helped many sensitive sites that I can't really mention. I've done a lot of stress testing of sites as well. A DoS attack or lots of users may bring your site down but won't affect the physical material (unless the air-con is really crap, and even then...). They tend to just tie up resources or in a worst case, bring down the Operating System. They don't affect the hardware.

It may be a DoS attack, but if the root cause appears to be a material failure, then it is just that, a problem with the material. It will be easy to see if it's a DoS attack if your provider is any good. I'm just trying to avoid any tin-foil hattery until you know more about the issue Very Happy

Wow so much for privacy. Buy something in Matts online shop or send him an email and your name gets posted on PO.com.

Cool.

Nice try, she was actually totally okay with me mentioning it. Already mentioned it at my forum and mentioned to her first.

Wow, people on your forum are keen to get their name spread around.

It seems they accept everything for a bit of free publicity ...

If you need help, give me a shout Matt. Rates vary from 1000 Euros a day (plus expenses) upwards.

Matt is having a tough time coming up with 600 Euro's a MONTH to stay off the streets in a luxurious rental room....affording an actual expert in any field is WAY outta his league.

DaveP:

1000 Euro/day => ~$200/hr You're really giving Savinar a discount there.

Savinar:

I will gladly offer my services as well. My special rate for you is $250/hr which is lower than what I'm charging the usual clients.

It's true. As a freelancer, I need to diversify my revenue streams to avoid getting hit by the tax man Sad

Most freelancers of your stated caliber would be charging around 300/hr here in NYC. You looking into joining any full time positions in the EU? Shoot me a pm if you're interested.
