|
|
| Quote: | The US is ready to accept "binding international obligations" on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, officials say, if other nations do the same.
The comments came in a news conference in Paris given by James Connaughton and Daniel Price, environmental and economics advisers to President Bush.
The US hopes the world's major economies will conclude a "leaders' declaration" before the July G8 summit.
There was no indication of how much the US might be prepared to cut emissions.

| I'm all for this. It's probably inevitable. It's just a matter of time. |

And this is with one of the most anti-environment conservative Republican presidencies...ever.
If a liberal Democrat like Barack Obama gets elected, we'll see binding international CO2 reductions as part of the first 100 days.
At the very least, the US will never be more anti-environment than it is right now given the current mood of the American public. _________________ "www.peakoil.com is the Myspace of the Apocalypse." |

It doesn't really mean much as Bush only has 10 months left.
The damage has already been done. |

Was hoping for binding water vapor reductions instead of CO2, since contrails produce most of the clouds & nighttime heating in our area. _________________ People first, then things, then dollars.

now now heroinworshiper, you must not go against the consensus. That would make you a non-conformist. possibly even a terrorist. like that galileo guy who had the audacity to say the earth was not the center of the universe. _________________ This is where everybody puts profound words written by another...or not so profound words written by themselves

as I see it, most Americans want to see this happen and the political elite is just waiting for more blunt evidence. Maybe the hesitation of American leadership in this will be looked at this in history as the proverbial 'comma'. _________________ "The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time."

I think Galileo just said earth wasn't the center of the solar system Its more likely to have been george bush who said earth wasn't the center of the universe? |
