Can we keep this website free of theology and homespun philosophy...please!

There is an abundance of websites for those who wish to waste their time on foolishness.

Keep the integrity of PO intact. Let's keep the subject restricted to the OG industry and the many ways PO &PG directly and indirectly affects us.

Isn't that enough to talk about?

The most interesting peak oil discussions, to me, are those that dig into the human response to uncertainty, incorrect assumptions about the future, and the fate of mankind on this earth.

These issues play out most dramatically in a person's sense of faith, spirituality, and the things that give meaning to his life.

If you don't like it, don't read this thread. If you don't like the content of this forum, go find one that you do like.

But I would like you to hang around and see if there is something for you here (I'll bet there is).

By your own definition you just added to the non-sense. This site has a psychology section for a reason. If you don't like the idea that religion is part of offering comfort to those trying to deal with peak oil go waste people's time over in the current events forum.

No. Have you heard, seen, or touched God? No you haven't, these monks haven't either, not narrow minded, just Fark reasonable.

There is no evidence, the monks can't provide it.

You call me narrowminded, that is okay, I put you in the straight jacket crowd.

God ranks right up there with the spaghetti monster, do you believe in him too?

Vision master,
Talking to him about qualia would be pointless.

I remember a saying about throwing pearls to the pigs...

Greenworm - I like you and your honesty I really do. I suspect there is not a lukewarm bone in your body. About your comment on working on self sufficiency instead of focusing on God. I have worked my whole life and will most likely continue to do so until I die - That is part of life on this planet. The reason we focus on God is because some of us, even though we cannot prove him, have faith in him, which in turn gives us eternal hope. Just for arguments sake let's say we are wrong, are we going to have to continue to work ? Certainly, that willl not change. But let's just say for a second we continue our deluded way of thinking and die with the hope that we will see God and live in an eternal state of happiness and bliss (with no more work) for eternity ? Not a whole lot wrong with that is there ? We can even agree to disagree and I will come over and help you harvest some bat guano so you can make through another planting season ! Very Happy
