I think the best places will be in or near what are currently the more wealthier suburbs that aren't too far from the centre of a city. These places will get top priority for services and you'll have alot less civil strife like due to a higher police presence and plenty of people who still can live somewhat comfortably.
I'm not sure how this translates to other countries but in australia generally the suburbs in or close to city centre areas are fairly wealthy then as you get further from the city it gets poorer and poorer until you get to large outer suburbs in which a large proportion of people survive off of welfare. These will be the places that will fair the worse, can anyone imagine what would happen to the south west suburbs of Sydney or northern suburbs of Adelaide if the welfare system was scrapped
Living in an isolated village or small town would be ok for as far as food goes but you would have very limited access to doctors.
