Gazprom is to be a partner with Enbridge, Gaz Metro LP and Gaz de France in this new $840 regasification plant at Levis, Quebec. A previous LNG idea was nixed by Russia, but now they have another scheme in mind, and this time, the Russians will be part owners.
I am not sure if its all a good thing to have the Russians as part owners. What if they steer the company away fomr the lowest cost sources to get more profits for Russia? Or if they hold us hostage to political demands or the like?
Also, I wonder if this will affect our North American natural gas prices down the road. I guess it would depress them.
