If "it's bunker time" why the fark do you care about the price of gold? You evolved some enzyme that lets you digest the stuff?

How many more people do we need in the United States? Do we need a bigger labor pool, more mouths to feed, more cars to use the remaining oil we have available, more pressure on housing stock?

illegal immigrants can't vote. Sorry you lose.

Congress enacted the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act in 1996. The law makes non-citizens who knowingly cast a ballot in a federal or state election eligible for deportation. It is up to the state officials to ensure that those voting in federal, state and local contests are citizens.

Five years after.... if they choose to become Americans. If they haven't 'felonied-up' in the meanwhile as so many do.

If a person comes to this country to work hard and obey the law, I can't see the justification for throwing them out because they didn't file some paperwork. My ancestors came to Pennsylvania in the early 1800's and they simply got off the boat and went to work as farm hands. Not too different than a lot of migrant workers today. Don't get me wrong; if you break the law or even if you just apply for government benefits and your paperwork isn't in order, then you deserve what you get. In other words, if you are a good person with good intentions and are willing to work hard at whatever work you can get, I think it's morally wrong and quite frankly, un-American for the Federal government to persecute you.

Their friends and family can vote. But that is not point.

Immigration is a direct consequence of NAFTA and other 'free trade' devices have destabilized Mexican culture in general and specifically it's community agriculture. The United States uses economic muscle and agriculture subsidies to maintain a corporate corn monopoly that put small traditional farms out of business.

Not the first time either. We chose (and succeeded admirably) to strangle our own small farm and farm communities in the United States 60 years ago. For the convenience of the large grain millers, agriculture commodities traders, giant food processors/retailers, and meat manufacturers.

It seems that things never change. You racist American whites are landless peasants set up to fight newly minted Mexican landless peasants. Divide and conquer still works.

This country has plenty of people, if anything we have 20 or 30 million too many as it is. If we fill-up on people we will not have any surplus ______ (put fresh water, food, energy whatever you want in the blank) then when we have a problem (natural disaster, terrorist attack) it'll be hard times for sure. If we go with undercapacity with respect to the number of people we have then we can weather problems with minimal pain.

As for the rich Republicans, have you ever noticed that the two richest Americans, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are both Democrats?

They cannot legally vote.

That is a very different statement than "They cannot vote."

Therein lies a concern for many.

Yes they would Pops, and it's dag nab annoying when people spread that tired old insulting myth. I picked beans and strawberries as a kid and we earned great money doing it too! I harvested hay near Corvallis in 1974 and it was ALL American high school and college kids doing the hard work. We were paid well and stores were filled with a wide variety of inexpensive produce mostly picked by Americans.

As you certainly know, the only reason American kids aren't picking crops today is that the hourly wage has been beaten back so low by the insane and nationally destructive open-borders policy that only hungry and desperate Third World (mostly illegal, it seems) immigrants are willing to labor in fields.
