For a minute there I thought I had to get off my couch, when all the while the fact is we don't have to do anything much but keep things afloat for just a few decades more! In fact, we'd best shut up about PO, because if our offspring finds out we knew about it all along, they'll turn and wring our necks come 2036!

Hello everybody!
I feel like I'm among friends so y'all can call me Chris. I'm brand new to the site, just signed on tonight, and thought I'd let you know I'm here and say hello.
I'm from GA, not as educated as some of you folks obviously are, but as concerned about our environment -especially this gas crunch - as anybody. I hope I can learn from you and take some steps that I hadn't taken before to protect myself and my family.
My husband and I live in a small apartment, all the children grown and on their own. We don't have much but are willing to do whatever we can to help so if anyone has any advice that would give us some idea about what we can do, I'd be pleased to hear it. Thanks for having me. I'll be back!

Welcome, Chris. Glad to have you here. I recommend you spend some time reading over in the Planning for the Future forum. There's a lot of good folks there - city dwellers and country dwellers and everywhere in between - who are talking about what practical steps they are taking to help prepare for challenging times ahead. You might get some good ideas. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Hi Chris and welcome. You have some positive energy that will be challenged here. As you learn more you will find it difficult to remain upbeat in the face of inaction and apparent willful denial around you. Very few folks, practically no leaders, understand what is happening and the immense changes and challenges arriving.
But then it sounds like you have had a good life and it seems you have the support of your husband--you referred to New Members. That's a very first step--having someone on your side who supports you. Support him. Good luck _________________ ree rah rip ram. sunofabitch godamn. hidey didey christ almighty. rah rah crap

Welcome, Chris, to PO.com. Initially, reading the various forums (and, the archives as you have time), will help you and your husband prepare for the near future.
Decide what you need to do, and be open to making adjustments in your plans.
And, each time you get depressed, visit the rubber room Psychology forum as well!
Feel free to ask questions as the need arises. _________________ "RRrrruuuunnnn!!!" ~Apocalypto
