In Walmart today I was looking for some wild caught fish. I picked up a package of frozen Alaska salmon fillets, but when I read the label it said - "harvested in the USA and processed in China."
How messed up can we get to catch fish here and have to ship them to China to have them clean it and do god knows what to them and then ship them back?
When I was discussing this with a Walmart employee he pointed out everything I had on from head to foot and even in my pockets, arms and eyeglasses came from China. (Well, he wasn't exactly right, my underwear came from Honduras.)
I used to be proud to be an American. But we have become the bitch of China. |

Yep...
Radio Flyer (those little red wagons)... ViewMasters (Those neat little viewers we grew up with)... Harley-Davidson ($600) leather jackets... Mr. Coffee... Kitchenaid... Craftsman tools... Pennsylvania House furniture... the list is endless.
red china is someday going to hold us by the nose as they kick us in the arse... and they'll do it wearing shoes that were made on equipment that once made footwear here in the states.
Just wait until red china deep sixes one of our aircraft carriers and the entire country goes berserk... wanting revenge but then realizes that the red chinese own us... lock, stock and barrel. _________________ Be yourself... Everyone else is already taken. |

It is probably the same in much of Europe. I suppose rising energy prices will make it more expensive for China to transport goods; at least for the heavier items.
The irony is that as China becomes "The workshop of the world" their demand for oil increases and therefore so does the global price of oil! |

| There could come a point at which the savings from cheap labor can no longer offset the rising cost of shipping cheap goods from the other side of the world. China's power as an exporter will then wane with the increasing price of oil, and manufacturing will become more local once again, just like agriculture. They can only sustain their oil subsidies for so long before the populace must bear the full force of the market prices and have their middle class crushed back down into the peasantry once again. I wouldn't get too worked up over China. Their days are as numbered as anyone else's, perhaps even more so. |

I have heard that the U.S. only manufactures 4% of its apparel today. Wouldn't it be the ultimate of irony for the globalists, if a war broke out and America could not even outfit its armed forces in uniforms? How messed up is that? |

There are or was . . . .
1Billion Chinese to 237 Million Americans.
They would kick our A$$ in 2-3 weeks with a military assault of 4:1
The sleeping giant is awake.
I'm not saying they are or would, they seem pretty passive; at least at the Chinese joint where I get takey outy.
It all comes downto oil; who's got it; who needs it and who WANTS it.
I've heard a Chinese insult is saying "you live in interesting times."
Well, the past few months have been down right confusing to me. . . .

I walked into a Wal-Mart once and bought Wonder Woman plates not fish, but I do shop at the local fish market where nothing is processed in China. It is hard not to buy goods that are NOT made in China but it is possible to buy less and buy local...takes effort but you can do it.
The world is China's bitch at this point, but we're right at the front of the line!

Read in Swedish media probably over a year ago something similar. Fish being processed in Thailand.
And somehow there is economy in doing this.
Well the good news is that there will be more local jobs cleaning fish. Either that or the fish we buy won't be cleaned anymore. _________________ Lets take a ride, and run with the dogs tonight

I do a fair amount of work for the American copper industry.
Smelters are, well, one of the filthiest industries in existence. Copper is expen$ive these days.
Word in the pits is that some of the American copper companies are going to build one or two large smelters in China. Then, they are going to mine the ore in Arizona and NM, run it through the concentrators and SX process, and then ship the concentrate to China to get run through the smelter.
My guess is that the copper refinery and wire plants will go over there as well.

Just remember...150 years ago, we were working them to death on our railroad projects and laughing about it.

It's a vicious circle. Because of rising energy prices we all have less money in our pockets. Chinese goods are cheaper so we're less likely to do the patriotic thing and pay more to buy local;
We buy more goods from China, so they use more oil and coal, so world energy prices go up. |

Add the UK to that list to. Yes, certain seafoods are sent from Scotland to Thailand for de-shelling, returning for selling in the UK supermarkets. Crazy.
Most everything here made in China / Far east. Its a revelation to find something with a made in EU label on it, let alone made in UK.
I've mentioned it before, but if we (the west) loose production of basic essential items, then China, etc (the global village) will have us by the balls. Probably allready do.
Dont know the solution, were too far down the road. I TRY to buy British / EU, but near impossible, especially the non-food basics.
