| Quote: | SALT LAKE CITY - Starting next month, it will be "TGIT" for Utah state employees. As in: "Thank God It's Thursday."
In a yearlong experiment aimed at reducing the state's energy costs and commuters' gasoline expenses, Utah is about to become the first state to switch to a four-day workweek for thousands of government employees.
They will put in 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, and have Fridays off, freeing them to golf, shop, spend time with the kids or do anything else that strikes their fancy. They will get paid the same as before. |

It'll save the state some money and the workers. _________________ "Oil is going up because we use too much oil, and the capacity to replace reserves is dwindling"

Right on schedule.
Price fixing...rationing...shortages...riots...martial law.
In that order.
In under 6 months. _________________ "There must be a bogeyman; there always is, and it cannot be something as esoteric as "resource depletion." You can't go to war with that." Emersonbiggins

Someone I know who works for the state of UT told me about this. He likes the idea, but says that is will make it impossible for him to ride his bike to work during the winter months.
Apparently riding in Salt Lake City is borderline suicidal. Riding when it's dark is just plain stupid. He would prefer to keep working 8 hours, and continue commuting 17 miles each way all but one or two days a year. |

Calif* had 4 day work weeks in 2003. Back then it was because of dot coms going out of business. No bailouts for that mortgage crash. Maybe it'll be 3 day work weeks now that the everyone else is going out of business. _________________ People first, then things, then dollars.

| I wonder how much driving they do on their day off ? Probably more than they save from going to work. Atleast at work their car is sitting in a parking lot and not being driven. |

You also have to wonder how productive those extra 2 hours will be...i mean these are GOVERNMENT employees. I bet there is a lot more yawning and catnaps. _________________ "Oil is going up because we use too much oil, and the capacity to replace reserves is dwindling"

Look at the bright side - - -
Utah is now leading the race to the zero day work week that will eventually be the norm.
Roc - IMO the only way we see martial law as soon as 6 months is a very substantial FF op. _________________ Massive Human Dieoff must occur as a result of Peak Oil. Many more than half will die. 4th of July would be a perfect time for a false flag op. Don't rule it out. I may go fill up tonight. |

I was gonna say....If they can get government employees to actually do work, that'd be amazing. Government employees working four days a week? Now that's just not even plausible. _________________ "I was born in a deep forest

4 days is better then no days..But I fail to see how this even assist the energy problem.
The day is coming where their won't even be the 1 day regular work week. If work is found..It will be private, likely food production or savage works. In the Great Dep of the 30s don't forget over 1 million more people returned to food production that as a time when 30% of Americans were in food production related work. |

We are going to a 4 day work week starting in August. However I only burn 2/3 of a gallon commuting a day. Hopefully this will leave huge gaps in coverage which means more overtime for me. _________________ In other words, it's a huge sh*t sandwich, and we're all gonna have to take a bite.-from Full Metal Jacket |

It's happened at our hospital. Even though I'm only slated for three days a week, I often work two or three extra overtime shifts each week. The extra dough is helping greatly in my financial preparations. |
