NYMEX Crude Oil (Light) ........................121.20 5.64 NYMEX NYH RBOB Gasoline (Globex) ...... 3.0421 .1318

Don’t worry, just a little bump - $70 is just around the corner. Short traders just keep making those margin calls, mortgage the house if you have to. Fortunes await you! PO is for pansies and doomers. At $70 short some more ..... it is going back to $22 .... the world is awash with oil ........ reality has nothing to do with it, its all in those charts!!!!!!!!!!

Bugg'n out...you should be too...

Quote:
[Matt Simmons, author of Twilight in the Desert: the Coming Saudi Oil Shock and the World Economy, now] plans to start up a farm near his house in Maine, in case the supply chain that provides America with food breaks down for lack of fuel. He plans to fertilise his fields with manure, rather than chemicals derived from oil and natural gas. He thinks globalisation must stop, and that as much trade as possible should be conducted by boat, to conserve whatever oil remains.

I can't wait to see pictures of him tending to his garden/farm like Kunstler. All the power to him. Probably not to smart to announce it to the world WHERE he's building his eco-farm, but good idea to build it.

"Hmm...a multi-millionaire owns a farm 5 miles from here with ample supplies of food while my family and I haven't had more than a cup of rice in a week? I think I'll head on over."

When tinfoil hat wearing whack jobs, conspiracy theory nutbags and braindead redneck survivalists tell you that oil has peaked then you can probably laugh it off.

When people like Matt Simmons, T.Boone Pickens and others who have made a fortune from oil tell you that it is running out then you best pay attention.

If you own a farm and are surrounded by starving masses then you had best be ready to defend it grimly.

Can we defend it cheerfully? Or even hilariously?

The best plan is to own a farm surrounded by other farms.

Then you don't have to worry so much about starving masses.

I've devoted several of my columns to the witch hunt Simmons talks about. We're more interesting in assigning blame than softening the crash. At this scale of denial, it's going to be a long time before our "leaders" and the masses realize what's actually happening and by then it will be too late. I fear it's already too late. My suggestion is if you don't own enough arable land (or have access to it via an urban farm or sharecropping), get out while you still have time. I'm making an offer on some farmland next week and am near to paying down my debts on my urban condo. I hope I still have enough time.

I'm with you on this one Ludi.

I never understood why so many people on this forum have a fixation for the "starving hoard of zombies marching towards your farm" theory. Rolling Eyes

Yeah.. I've always been under the impression that our country's brand of zombies like to sit at home and wait for the all-powerful government to "do something.

The latest FSN begins with a bunch of clips from Apollo 13, then Frank jokingly talking Jim off that ledge. Later Jim jokingly visits Frank in his Bear shelter, echoing footsteps, talk of ammo and food stockpiles...

Anybody going to accuse these guys of merely being alarmists out for a quick buck? Hmm? I miss those days when that was a plausible explanation. Sad

TheDude what is FSN? Is it a live doomer site?

Can we actually watch the guy crawl into the bear box, or not jump off the ledge?

Under societal collapse scenario it is a warranty to happen if you are lets say 10 miles from any town which is no longer viable (any town above 100-150 thousands is likely to fall into that category).

If you are 20-40 miles away and there are some others villagers to help, you have good chance to defend yourself if collapsing town is small enough (say no more than 100 000 strong).
All of you would have to be very trigger (or machete...) happy, though.

However if you are near than 100 miles from collapsing megacity, then you are a toast.
It would be of benefit to your survival if such a city got nuked rather than just be left to collapse.
Fewer zombies at least. Very Happy

FSN is Financial Sense Newshour -

http://www.financialsense.com/

If you listened to it a while back you would've made a killing in the markets.

That's what evidence shows (Katrina recent example). I've not seen any compelling evidence to support the zombie horde scenario.
