Worked out quite well, actually VERY well.

Worked out being the operative words.

North sea gas is nearly all "worked out" !!!!!!!!!!!!

Just add radium, tritium or other appropriate radioactive isotope to get a radioluminescent light source. Or just recharge it with sunlight, your kerosine lamp or other light source. It glows for hours.

I have that much faith in the UK govts ability to keep the lights on that I've just spent 3.3k on beefing up insulation and draught proofing, and installing solar hot water Laughing .

I have a coal fueled heating system; I was about to rip it out and replace with gas but I'm having second thoughts. The back of my garage could hold 4 or 5 years supply of coal. Tempting.
