We cannot drill our way out of this oil crisis. Since 2000, oil companies working in the U.S. have doubled the number of wells drilled per year.

Although increased drilling has added new oil to the nation's supply, it has not done so fast enough to offset the terminal decline of existing fields.

We are going to have to import more of our oil. Period.

I do like the 'structured anarchy' of PO.com as it is.

No suggestions here, just comments:

it's a bit difficult to be a anti-peakster on a peakoil board. Maybe mention that there is 'another side' and that the peak oil concept is a controversial/difficult theory - because of the consequences.

A 'graphic' note: the figure from API - it looks 'scanned' and detracts from the aesthetics.

There's no source on the first 'disc./prod.' graph.

The discovery/production pic is more a graphic than a graph - it’s to illustrate how one necessarily follows the other. Perhaps a caption to that effect, A?

True enough about non-peakers ’07, but we did try to write the copy with as many if’s, may’s, etc as possible in order to leave room for discussion. The same for drawing conclusions – open to the reader.

This version is much better!

I don't think the pic of the Middle East adds anything to the sense: I suggest you cut it out.

You might want to add just a line about how dependent on oil we are for not just power and transportation, but plastics and agriculture as well.

Otherwise excellent.
