Like the illusion of Wall Street, with its vast and powerful investment banks, now shuttered, China too is an illusion perpetuated by the Globalists that gave us the 15,000 mile Caesar salad, poisoned cat food and lead based paint on babies' pacifiers. Like the illusion that money would come from thin air to always push housing prices higher, China has spent a generation pursuing its illusion. Pursuing an unattainable dream to be like the West, while 6000 years of its carefully shepherded top soil blows into the sea.

Well here we are again at the dawn of the cooling season in the Northern Hemisphere. Though technically it is two weeks until fall starts the nights have suddenly begun to cool down. We went through most of August in basically drought conditions and though the Gustave reamnent did give us a few showers these last two days we are back to bright sunshine and clear skies without getting anywhere near our normal rainfall totals for the summer.

How is it wherever you are?

Yes, it's beginning to cool down here too, starting on the first of September. So far this month the lows have been: 25,27,30,35,36 and this morning a crisp 33. Supposed to hit 90 this afternoon. Ironically, we usually get our coolest nights during autumn droughts, before it gets "wetter". Lows 20s-30s, highs 70s-90s. Fun watching the quail taking "powder baths" in the front yard, where most folks have a lawn. At least it's not windy lately--perfect for bicycling.

Last night's local news stated that last year, our area of Minnesota had 27 days with over 90 degree temperatures. This year, we had 6 days. It has been a very mild summer, and this past week we had several days where the winds were quite cold.
I expect to see snow, if just a brief flurry, by the end of September.

You folks are making me envious with this stuff...lol. We're still doing good to get down below 70 at night, with daytime highs climbing to the mid and upper 80's.

And yes, it's sunny. Always sunny, sunrise to sunset, day in and day out. Shoot, if I wanted to live in this kind of climate. I'd moved out to Las Vegas or someplace like that.

Won't be too long before they start calling the southern states the "Desert Southeast"...

Here in Chicago it's been getting a bit cooler. We haven't had a long summer like in '07. That was blazing heat. This early summer didn't warm up till into June. Then it was mild 80's, a very few days of 90's, comfortable sleeping weather most of the season. I loved it!
About 2 weeks ago, I was sitting in my kitchen speaking to my husband on the phone, and it faces our backyard, and on to the next street. There was a huge tree that has almost appeared to be changing color...just barely..but less the "leaf green" that is still prominent now, and definitely the olive green with a slight yellowish in the tones that denotes either a tree is sick or hasn't received enough water for the season.
But it also looked like "an early autumn" to me. This was in the last 2 weeks of August, it was like we are a month ahead of ourselves here. I spoke with a friend in Pennsylvania, and he noted to me that he is seeing this phenomenon as well out there, so it is regional, I believe. I'd like to see if anyone else has been seeing this in the mid-to-upper Midwest...?

It's been a good thing to get Gustav's rain, we were worried about wind, but it seemed to give us here a good, steady, gentle rain.
Plants have perked up, which they can only do when they get a good rainfall.

Weather atrocious in whole of UK last few days. Rain, rain & rain.

Global warming, I suppose.

Hard to believe you're running the heat in early September. Shocked If this is any indication of what's to come this winter...I'm sure a lot of people are going to be tossing a fit about their gas bill, if not experiencing outright shortages.

Here, the AC is still on day and night, 24/7...with the first "open window" night still likely to be many days off yet.

Sure wish we'd get your rain, though. I would love nothing more than to have your weather for a while..hehe. Wink

In Minnesota it has gotten too cold too fast. Last year it was still warm and there was tons of rain. I wonder if we will have a normal winter

90° days to start the month in DC, including a record high. Now we have Hanna which is dropping 4+ inches of rain in the area.

I like how you spell Erie: "Location: West shore Lake Eire, MI, USA"

Lake front Chicago has been very pleasant, and the windows are doing most of the cooling and heating. St Louis was also surprisingly cool this week.

It's not miserably hot every day! Chilly to me at night but I'm very cold-sensitive.

Highs in the high 80s, low 90s Lows in the high 60s, low 70s. Humidity is down, and I need to water the garden again.

Yeah, actually you can! It's very important to keep feet dry, and have fresh socks to change into, especially if you're doing a lot of walking or laboring. You can get various bacterial and fungal infections which might be difficult to shake. Also blisters, etc are easier to get and can become infected if the feet stay wet. Make sure you clean your feet as best you can, and allow them to completely dry out at night if possible. Important survival info.

Thanks, home and dry after nice hot bath last night. Should have stayed two nights, but democracy was subverted by eldest girl twisting the truth!

NOW its raining, the kind of rain we normally get around the middle of August! If the pattern's hold with the whole three week delay it will dry out enough for the local farmers to harvest the field corn before it rains too much. I sure hope so, farming is a tough life when the weather acts oddly as it did this whole year. Wet winter, snow then melt then snow then melt cyclically, then dry early spring, wet late spring and early summer, dry mid and late summer. . . Only got really hot these last couple weeks with a few spikes here and there over the summer and spring months.
