So was I.
Large numbers of troops are neither needed nor appropriate in that terrain when you have a couple of companies of Special Ops and some Predators with Hellfire.
See: link | Quote: | | American military officers have said for months that they could no longer tolerate the increasing attacks against their forces in Afghanistan by the Taliban from Pakistan. They said they had concluded that the Pakistani military was unable or unwilling to deal with the militants. |

| Quote: | Pakistani FM: The U.S. May Not Carry Out Military Operations in Pakistan
1 Aug 2008--In the past few years, Taliban militants have been using Pakistan's tribal districts as a base for attacks on the NATO-led forces in Afghanistan. This has prompted NATO attacks on targets in Pakistan, which has in turn put a strain on U.S.-Pakistan relations. The tension peaked recently, following a U.S. air strike on an Al-Qaeda target in Pakistan during which Pakistani soldiers were killed.
In a recent visit to the U.S., Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told reporters that "the U.S. would not be allowed to take [military] action in parts of Pakistan. The war against terror will be fought by other means, not only by means of weapons." In a subsequent interview for Al-Jazeera, he outlined Pakistan's position vis-a-vis the U.S. and the Taliban. ... |

What is Pakistan going to do if the US ignores and continues the raids? Clash with American troops?
Speaking as an Indian, I really hope that happens , but the Pakistanis have been kissing **s to the US for decades and they aren't going to stop now. _________________ I play the cards I'm dealt, though I sometimes bluff. |

I don't have a clue, Venky. I suspect nobody knows. The US troops will keep on going anywhere they want to, with or without permission (as far as I can tell). Sometimes I think all these excrsions are just real-life war games. ...sigh.... _________________ "RRrrruuuunnnn!!!" ~Apocalypto |
