Not, of course.
Voting is your indication that you believe that a two party system really exists.
I'd rather vote for ghosts and goblins.
For all of you who haven't reached this conclusion - yet - think of me when you pull the lever/press the button/pop your chad. _________________ Massive Human Dieoff must occur as a result of Peak Oil. The Green Party lost my vote because this unfortunate soul won the nomination.
Poor thing has lost it.
So, now what does an anti-war voter do? Nader? Ron Paul? Barr? One of the many leftist parties?
The abyss draws near...
This essay published today offers an interesting perspective on why NOT voting is also democracy at work. _________________ Got Dharma?

+1.
If you do vote, then don't complain. You have no control. Your only choice is whether to dutiful play your assigned roll or not. If you're old enough, you may recall that voting was mandatory in the USSR. There's a reason for that. By voting, you make yourself a participant in the ruling political system. The only major difference between here and there is that they had only one candidate on the ballot where we have two identical candidates on the ballot. _________________ "So while you sit and whistle Dixie with your money and your power.

| I voted (absentee) a straight, 3rd-Party ticket... starting with Chuck Baldwin (endorsed by Ron Paul) for President. |

There was several candidates on the ballot in Virginia - I assume you are referring to the presidential election? In addition, we have a senatorial race, congressional race, state house and senate, local county board, school board, several bond referenda (metro, sewer, schools, parks) and a referendum on establishing a housing authority - all of which greatly impact the community in which I live and how it is governed. The presidential race is the least important of all of those. |

Yeah. It sounds pretty out there. The only thing that makes me a little hesitant to dismiss it is that I've heard, what seem to me pretty credible second hand reports from Spec Ops guys that things were a lot crazier in New Orleans post Katrina than the media lets on. Like full on Iraq style firefights in the Superdome for example. I don't believe that the government just decided to cap 5000 prisoners in the head SS style, but I could definitely see them wanting to cover up some of the casualties from Blackwater and Spec Ops gun battles. _________________ "So while you sit and whistle Dixie with your money and your power.

Cash and others,
Remember that there are many other offices and/or ballot measures "down ballot" that are very important to vote for.
Personally, I think the presidential race is one of the least important offices we vote for in terms of the day-to-day effect on my life. I find it much more important to make sure we have solid people in local offices. Remember that they will be making "street level" decisions during the coming oil apocolypse.

I've decided to start voting randomly. Ignore the names and mark boxes however I feel. The results will be the same, I still get to complain (because I voted) and it might help. Monkeys and darts still do pretty well on Wall St. _________________ Civilization is a personal choice. |

Keep shoveling the apple pie Joel. Keep shoveling.
It's what they told you in the idiot factory, right?
They told you that it's the duty of every free American to vote, and not voting is a dereliction of that duty. Right?
They told you that, if you don't vote, you have no right to complain.
That's what they told you Joel, right?
They lied to you Joel.
What they should have told you is that the same corporate interests have bought and sold both parties, and there is no distinction between them. _________________ Massive Human Dieoff must occur as a result of Peak Oil. There are billions of people across the world that can't vote and some die trying to vote.
I figure I should vote even if it doesn't actually matter. That way I can complain if McCain doesn't get elected.
