| Anybody in Maine, come to the Railroad Square Cinema in Waterville next Friday, June 23 at around 5 pm. We'll have a solar car, an electric bike and other stuff going. It's the opening of An Inconvenient Truth, so we'll check that out and maybe have a discussion afterwards. Come connect if you are in Maine! |

Salt Spring Island, BC, here! You can connect with our group via our website (below). Meetings are typically the first Saturday of each month, shifted a week later this month because of Canada Day.
We are not primarily a peak-oil group, but rather are a "doing something" group. So don't show up hoping to hear a lot of Kunstler-style doom-n-gloom, and bring your work clothes and gardening tools! _________________ :::: Jan Steinman, Communication Steward, EcoReality, a forming sustainable community. | SE Qld... originally from Brisbane, now on the Gold Coast. There is an ecovillage being developed on the south end of the coast but while it is great in terms of environmental friendliness I have serious doubts about its ability to sustain the community foodwise (200 acres, 147 land parcels). Besides we can't afford to buy and the rental waiting list is long. Still trying to figure out the best approach LOL. I know a couple of PO aware people (one actually sent us the link to LATOC) but I'm not sure what they are doing about it... |

I'm in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles. But I get up to SB (Goleta, actually) a lot on weekends to see the BF. HE may be one of the unbelievers, but he is starting to come around - he got an electric motor kit to mount on his bike so he can theoretically bike to work some day.........
When gas hits $4 I will switch to the train. Right now it's still WAAYYYY cheaper for me to drive up - the old Honda (1988) gets over 35 mpg if I put 89 octane in it. _________________ Kestrel

I haven't done this in a while, but I'm still around Madison Wisconsin. Specifically verona. Good place to live while I check out land nearbye, and aquire some building skills. I really need to get a bit more west though, better land prices. _________________ Azreal60

I'm in Dallas but own 14 ac. up in Fannin county, just south of Bonham, tx.
I'm in the planning stages of building a Permaculture/forest garden. We just found out that the county is building a lake there that will flood part of our property. Now if I could just find out how far up the hill the water will be I could start planting!!! |

We have a group here in Central Maine. Our next meeting is on Sunday, Sept. 3 at the UU church in Waterville at 10:45. Upstairs in the Meditation Room. Please tell people about the meeting. We are focused on the solutions to the problem, especially solar energy. We recently built a solar car with students and are working on other realistic solutions to local problems. Please come!
I am also teaching an Adult Ed. class for four Thursdays, starting Sept. 21st at 7pm in Skowhegan on Peak Oil, and what we can do about it. The course is free, and I'll give the John Howe book to the first 7 people. It should be as fun! Call me at 474-7370 for more info. |

Hi,
I live in the Flint, Michigan area, and I would enjoy meeting other like-minded individuals in this area.
