Good articles Spec, the guy was completely clueless.. _________________ In other words, it's a huge sh*t sandwich, and we're all gonna have to take a bite.-from Full Metal Jacket

Shame. Excluding the hard line stance on not supporting the troops, I thought the editorial was more or less spot-on. We've taken a country from a secular dictator (his brutality notwithstanding) and, $200b dollars later, turned it into an Islamic republic (the religion of peace, as Spec would say...). We did even less than that for those hundreds of thousands killed in the Rwandan genocide. So, what are we trying to accomplish with this war, besides acting within the scope of the Carter Doctrine? _________________ "It's called the American Dream because you'd have to be asleep to believe it."

Do NOT bring up the Rwandan crap. THAT flustercluck was the UN's little baby, not ours. _________________ "Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the

No, I think I will bring it up. The U.S. can't defer to UN authority on some issues and usurp that authority on other issues of a similar nature. Both countries had an oppressed citizenry, but one country had oil underneath it. Which one got the attention of the U.S.? _________________ "It's called the American Dream because you'd have to be asleep to believe it."

The UN was already in Rwanda, remember? Are you saying the UN is unable to properly respond to civil wars and thus should let America do it?
Additionally, I dont recall any Rwandans launching terrorist attacks against America. _________________ "Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the

If America wants to play empire, then it should play empire all the time, not just when it's convenient for American business interests. If we are indeed the world's police force, as I think we are led to believe, then we have an obligation to subvert the authority of the UN at any cost to achieve the ends of world peace, liberty and freedom, and all that other jingoistic garbage that obfuscates our real intentions of empire.

Likewise, I fail to see a link between Saddam and terrorist attacks on America. Perhaps you'd point out that Saddam and bin Laden were good fraternity buddies in college, but that's about as close as you'd get to a link - and you'd still be wrong. For all we know, Saddam was a disgruntled ex-employee of the American government. After all, he was on Uncle Sam's payroll a few years back.
