"A Century of War" by William Engdahl is the best reseach that I have ever read about the history of oil and how it brought us to where we are today.
Do a search on Amazon. It is available there since two weeks. For an excerp of a William Endahls writings check this one out:http://www.currentconcerns.ch/archive/2003/04/20030409.php |

I also know this book, it is a real must-read for anyone who wants to understand how the British Empire- and since the 1920ies- the (informal9 American Empire was working: controlling the world by establishing and controlling it's main energy source. The control of oil decided the 2 world wars.
The book appeared first in 1992 already, in 2003/2004 there was a new print run only( 2003 german edition, 2004 english one) , but I regard it as a must-read for anyone who is interested in peak-oil and international affairs.
There are more interesting articles from William Engdahl like

P.S: don't buy this book via amazon.com if you don't want to be put on some of the US gov's black lists |
