PARIS, July 24 (Reuters) - French motorists consumed 10 percent less fuel in June 2008 year-on-year in response to high oil prices, the head of the French petroleum industry body (UFIP) said on Thursday.
"Consumption was 10.3 percent lower in June 2008 compared with the same month a year ago," UFIP's head Jean-Louis Schilansky told Reuters.
Prices at petrol stations had also started to fall in the last 10 days, reflecting a fall in oil prices in the last two weeks.
Oil prices have fallen from a peak of just under $148.00 a barrel in mid-July to around $125 on Thursday. (Reporting by Muriel Boselli)
