Meanwhile, keep watching for shortage reports, because we should start seeing some sneak in this week, if our doom-o-meter is calibrated correctly.

Look at the current GasBuddy price index:

http://www.gasbuddy.com/GB_Price_List.aspx

Usually there's a mix of green and red, but not today.

Wow.

Good find.

There is still a lot of $3 price ranges. When $5 is the low I will start to really worry.

Never messed around with gasbuddy, Bill? It's a great site.

Check out the National Gas Temperature Map. Bet that's being used as a vacation planner! Bet there's a lot of people crossing state lines lately, too.

As interesting as it is, it is immaterial to my situation here in Eurasia. I am sitting on an island. If I want to buy gas I have to pay whatever they are offering. Its not like I have a choice? Luckily, I have put on less than 12.500 miles in the past 4-years, so the price of gas for me is largely irrelevant.

However, looking at that gas temperature map it seems to me that it is highly correlated with the sub-prime crisis with the possible exception of Florida? It looks like the states that are hurting the most economically at the moment are the ones also paying the most for gasoline as well?

That map ought to get a lot redder during the summer driving season!
