Meanwhile, keep watching for shortage reports, because we should start seeing some sneak in this week, if our doom-o-meter is calibrated correctly.

I'm married to a wonderful man who makes a good wage ($100,000+) and I have a small part time job. We live below our means and have no debt (other than home mortgage) and save as much money as possible. Our home will be paid off in about four years (or less). I love my husband and he's a good man, but he can't bear to hear about "peak oil" because he says, "it's so depressing."

Here's my question:

We are in a good area that is less than five blocks from a BAD neighborhood and we live in an early 1900s home. We're near hubby's work (less than four miles) and within walking distance of stores, shops, medical care, etc. This community was built in the early 1900s and was specifically designed for walkers.

Because of my husband's job, we're not able to move too far from here and he'd never think about selling our home. It's a beautiful home and it suits our needs and like most old houses, it's thoughtfully designed to be warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

I've read different reports and some say you're better off in a community than out in the wilderness. I'd love to hear others' opinions and I'd also like to hear from people who are married to someone who isn't aligned with them on this peak oil thing.
